Alvin Norstebon St. Maries

Service for Alvin Norstebon, 74, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries.

Mr. Norstebon, who was born in Roseau, Minn., died Wednesday.

He grew up in Roseau and served with the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater and later returned to Roseau.

Mr. Norstebon was a farmer, and married Aileen Scott in 1958. He later lived in Troy, Mont., and worked in the timber industry.

He moved to Avery, Idaho, in 1959 and worked for the Potlatch Corp. In 1960 he moved to Minnesota, where he worked as a mechanic in the construction business.

Mr. Norstebon became disabled in 1964 and settled in St. Maries in 1972.

He was a member of the Chatcolet Boat Club and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dick Scott of St. Maries; five brothers, Melvin and Milton Norstebon, both of Minnesota, Stanley Norstebon of Mountain Home, Idaho, Morris Norstebon of Libby, Mont., and Allen Norstebon of California; two sisters, Selma Meyers and Grace Kirchof, both of Minnesota; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Barbara (Anderson) Riffe Sandpoint

Memorial service for Barbara Annette (Anderson) Riffe, 79, will be held on April 18 at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Community Center in Hope, Idaho. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Riffe, who was born in El Monte, Calif., died Wednesday. She attended the University of California at Berkeley and in 1941 married Norman Riffe after completing her studies in home economics.

Mrs. Riffe lived in California and in 1958 began spending summers in the Hope area.

She moved to Hope and built a home there in 1965. She moved to the Mountainside Care Center in Sandpoint in December.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Larry Riffe of Sandpoint, Christopher Riffe of Hope and Dana Riffe of Tennessee; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Dena Coleman Spokane

Graveside service for Dena C. Coleman, 98, was held Friday at Riverside Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

A longtime Spokane resident, Mrs. Coleman died Wednesday. She was born in Germany.

Mrs. Coleman was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Margie Boatsman; three grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Barney Milesi Cataldo, Idaho

Memorial service for Barney Anthony Milesi, 79, will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Milesi, who was born in Wallace, died March 20.

He was a lifelong Silver Valley resident and served with the Army during World War II in Europe.

Mr. Milesi married Naomi Thompson in 1949 and lived in Pine Creek near Pinehurst, Idaho, until moving to the Cataldo area in 1989.

He worked as a logger and for the Bunker Hill Mining Co. for 22 years. He was a member of the Kellogg Veterans of Foreign Wars.

His wife died in 1996.

Survivors include a son, Danny Milesi of Pinehurst; three daughters, Jenny Bushnell and Toni Wiles, both of Coeur d’Alene, and Jeanne Knox of Pinehurst; a sister, Elma Layton of Medimont, Idaho; and four grandchildren.

Lloyd Albert Boise

Funeral for Phillip Lloyd Albert, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Albert, who was born in Moscow, Idaho, died Sunday.

He graduated from Moscow High School and attended Kinman Business University in Spokane. He married Zelva Wery in 1937.

Mr. Albert farmed in the Turnbow Flats area near Palouse from 1940 until 1965, when he moved to Spokane. He later moved to Bozeman, Mont., where he was self-employed.

In 1980, he moved to Boise. His wife died in 1988.

Mr. Albert was a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellows lodges, and was a 50-year member of the Palouse Grange.

Survivors include a son, Gordon Albert of Nampa, Idaho; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Judy Goldsmith St. Maries

Private service for Judy Rae Goldsmith, 47, will be held at a later date. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Goldsmith, who was born in Kellogg, died Monday.

She was a homemaker and longtime Silver Valley resident. She moved to the Valley Vista Care Center in St. Maries in 1995.

Survivors include a son, Johnathan Goldsmith of the U.S. Coast Guard; and two brothers, Jim Holand of Pinehurst, Idaho, and Joey Holand of Alaska.

Shirley Delaney Hayden Lake, Idaho

Graveside service for Shirley A. Delaney, 69, will be today at 1 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at Yates Hayden Chapel Gathering Center. Mr. Delaney, who was born in Iowa, died Thursday.

He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and worked in the logging industry before beginning a 32-year career in road construction.

Mr. Delaney married Lois Moffit in 1971 and lived in Hayden Lake. He retired from Inland Asphalt in 1989.

He was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Aerie and Operating Engineers Union Local 370 of Spokane.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mike and John Delaney, both of Post Falls; three daughters, Susan Kincaid and Sheryl both of Spokane, and Brenda Kilian of Post Falls; a stepson, Dan Moffit of Oregon; three sisters, Twyla Munsch of Seattle, Nela Vesser of Puyallup, Wash., and Frances Kalman of Muskegon, Mich.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sidney Fackenthall Deer Park

Funeral for Sidney Wilson Fackenthall, 84, will be at 2 p.m. today at Deer Park First Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Wildrose Prairie Cemetery. Lauer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fackenthall, who was born in Nine Mile Falls, died Tuesday.

He attended North Central High School in Spokane, and later worked as an expert diesel and automotive mechanic for many years.

Mr. Fackenthall lived in Northport, Colville, Chewelah, and Hunters, Wash., before moving to Deer Park several years ago.

He was a member of the Deer Park First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; a son, Warren Fackenthall of Hunters; three brothers, Allan Fackenthall of Spokane, Robert Fackenthall of Colville and Warren Fackenthall of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Ruth Smelcer of Spokane and Leoti Harke of Columbia Falls, Mont.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Adeline Carpenter Spokane

Memorial service for Adeline Carpenter, 87, will be held at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 17-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Carpenter died Tuesday. She was born in Hallock, Minn.

She graduated from the nursing program at Swedish Hospital College in Minneapolis and then worked in the health-care industry for many years.

Her husband, Tony, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Doug Carpenter; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Clodall Wilson Liberty Lake

Memorial Mass for Clodall M. Wilson, 81, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Otis Orchards. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 54-year Spokane-area resident, Mrs. Wilson died Thursday. She was born in Black Diamond, Wash.

Mrs. Wilson owned and operated Wilson Tool and Manufacturing in Spokane with her husband, Harry, for 50 years.

She was a member of both St. Mary Catholic Church in Spokane and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Otis Orchards.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Michael Wilson of Tumwater, Wash., and Geoffrey Wilson of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; three daughters, Clodall Jacobson of Spokane, Yvonne Adkins of Mead and Shelley Wilson Stocker of Gainesville, Fla.; a brother, Jack Marckx of Seattle; three sisters, Ada Marckx, Eugenia Whitehill and Elna Baker, all of Seattle; and 12 grandchildren.

Jeanne Stowell Seattle

Memorial service for Jeanne Stowell, 83, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South.

Mrs. Stowell, a native of Spokane, died Sunday.

She graduated as the valedictorian from the first class at Rogers High School and later graduated from Kinman Business University.

Mrs. Stowell worked for New York Life Insurance Co. for several years and later was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Sorell Sorority and Manito Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Stowell moved to Seattle a year ago.

Her husband of 46 years, Hollis, died in 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Stowell of Portland and Robert Stowell of Seattle; a daughter, Janet Lismanis of Spokane; and four grandchildren.
