Ruth `Meryl’ Henry Post Falls

Memorial service for Ruth “Meryl” Henry, 96, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Henry, who was born in Ipswich, S.D., died Saturday.

She graduated from South Dakota State University in 1924 and married Lloyd Henry in 1926.

Mrs. Henry lived in South Dakota until 1944. She had lived in Pullman and Walla Walla before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1948.

She moved to Hayden Lake and worked with her husband at the Lloyd Henry Insurance Agency for 25 years.

She later moved to Post Falls and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Daughters of the Nile, Coeur d’Alene Soroptimist Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Bridge Club and was a past president of the Walla Walla Parent Teacher Association.

Her husband died in 1990.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Deitz of Post Falls; a sister in-law, Betty Owens of Coeur d’Alene; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Blanche Hughes Silverton, Idaho

Service for Blanche J. Hughes, 94, will be at 2 p.m. today at American Lutheran Church of Kellogg. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hughes, who was born in Douglas County, Minn., died Friday.

She moved to the Silver Valley from Minnesota in 1930 and was a homemaker.

In 1931 she married Mervin Hughes. They owned Enterprize Laundry in Kellogg.

She was a member of American Lutheran Church of Kellogg and was active with the Silver Valley Senior Citizens.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, LaVille Buff of South Carolina; a sister, Lucille Lust of Spokane; and two grandchildren.

Michael Coleman Spokane

Graveside service for Michael J. Coleman, 64, will be at 2 p.m. today at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 25-year Spokane resident, Mr. Coleman died Thursday. He was born in Georgia.

He served in the Air Force from 1954 until 1978, touring in Korea, Johnston Island, Turkey, Lowry Air Force Base, Loring Air Force Base, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and finally retiring at Fairchild Air Force Base.

Mr. Coleman began working for The Spokesman-Review in 1979, retiring as a buyer and planner in the procurement and distribution department in 1996.

He was a member of the Spokane Rifle Club.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Edith; two sons, Brian and Jon Coleman, both of Spokane; two daughters, Kim Floyd and Jaclyn Coleman, both of Spokane; his mother, Marion Coleman; two brothers, Clifford and Charles Coleman, and one sister, Martha Jean, all of North Augusta, S.C.; and two grandchildren.

James Haskell Spokane

Private family service for James A. Haskell, 65, will be held at a later date. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 55-year Spokane resident, Mr. Haskell died Thursday. He was born in Santa Barbara, Calif.

He graduated from West Valley High School in 1952 and served in the Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Haskell worked as a salesman in the seafood industry.

Survivors include his wife, Ut; four sons, Robert and Donald Haskell, both of Spokane, William Haskell of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Ronald Haskell of Boise; a daughter, Kathleen Haskell of Spokane; a stepson, Tu Le, and three stepdaughters, Mai Le, Phung Le and Amy Le, all of Spokane; a sister, Lois Gardner of Greenacres; and six grandchildren.

Paul Reisenauer Moscow, Idaho

Vigil service for Paul M. Reisenauer, 92, will be today at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moscow. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at St. Gall Cemetery in Colton, Wash. Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reisenauer, who was born in Colton, died Saturday.

He graduated from high school in Colton and married Zita Welle in 1933. He was a farmer in the Colton area.

Mr. Reisenauer moved to Moscow in 1959 and worked at the University of Idaho as a custodian until he retired in 1970.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Moscow Road Runner Club and had served as governor of the Moose Lodge, where he attained the Pilgrim Degree.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years; two sons, Gerald Reisenauer of Moscow and David Reisenauer of Spokane; three daughters, Justine Osborne and Judy Dahmen, both of Lewiston, and Pauline Spangler of Moscow; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s School Foundation or the Good Samaritan Village in Moscow.

Floyd Sexton Harvard, Idaho

Funeral for Floyd M. Sexton, 85, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse.

Mr. Sexton, who was born in Harvard, died Saturday.

He attended schools in Harvard and helped his father with the family cattle business, hauling cattle to Spokane markets during the 1920s through the 1940s. He married Melva Butterfield in 1939.

Mr. Sexton later worked hauling and sawing logs, and performing equipment maintenance for Potlatch (Idaho) Forests, Inc., before working for the Bennett Lumber Co. for 10 years during the 1960s and 1970s.

He also operated a farm and raised cattle and other animals, near Harvard for many years. He retired in 1978.

Mr. Sexton served on the local school board for several years during the 1950s and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Potlatch.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dallas Sexton of Moscow, Idaho; a daughter, Ann Louise Cole of Hayden Lake, Idaho; a sister, Ada Mae Nichols of Hayden, Idaho; four grandsons, three stepgrandchildren, two great-grandsons and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Latah Health Services in Moscow; the Potlatch Ambulance Fund; or the Harvard Ladies Aid.

Kay Gembala Spokane

No service will be held for Kay Gembala, 79. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 15-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Gembala died Wednesday. She was born in Pullman.

Mrs. Gembala worked as a clerk in a liquor store for many years.

Survivors include three sons, Jim Clark of Galt, Calif., Gary Gembala of Anchorage and Jim Gembala of Newport, Wash.; two daughters, Carla Lungo of Nine Mile Falls and Carol Stahl of Lynnwood, Wash.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Louise Gregor Spokane

Funeral for Louise B. Gregor, 78, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.

A 62-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Gregor died Saturday. She was born in Woodstock, Va.

Mrs. Gregor worked for Scholosser’s Flowers during World War II and worked for The Crescent department store for several years.

She also worked as an executive secretary for the Multiple Listing Service and Sunset West Real Estate during the 1960s and 1970s.

Her husband of 56 years, Floyd, died in February 1998.

Survivors include a daughter, Barb Howe of Spokane; two sisters, Jessie Burrell of Spokane and Mary Lovejoy of Walla Walla; a brother, Bill Arnold of Spokane; and two grandchildren.

Ernest `Trigger’ Tregoning Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Ernest “Trigger” Tregoning, 80, was Monday at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Tregoning, who was born in Great Britain, died Saturday.

He moved to Kellogg in 1924 and attended schools there.

In 1937 he joined the Army and served with the Marine Corps during World War II.

Mr. Tregoning married Ethel Graham in 1946. They lived in Kellogg where he worked in the electronics department at Bunker Hill Mining before retiring in 1979.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1981 and was a member of the Kellogg Elks Lodge.

His wife died in 1989.

Survivors include three granddaughters, Brandy, Jessica and Ashley; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Tregoning of Arizona; and two sisters-in-law, Margo Tregoning of Cincinnati and Grace Tregoning of West Virginia.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kellogg Mining Museum.

Fred `Fritz’ White Pullman

No service will be held for Fred A. “Fritz” White, 81, at his request. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. White, who was born in Trail, B.C., died Saturday.

He moved to Anaconda, Mont., with his family, later moving to Potlatch, Idaho, where he finished school.

Mr. White married Lorena Heaton in 1943 and served in Italy with the Army for two years. He was honorably discharged in 1945 as a first sergeant.

He then moved to Wallace, Idaho, for a short time before moving to Pullman, where he went to work for the Pullman Bakery.

Mr. White later worked as a truck driver for Holsom Bread Co. and Hamilton Distributors. He retired in 1978.

He was a 30-year member of the Teamsters Union, a member of the Pullman Moose Lodge and a lifetime member of the Colton Gun Club.

His wife died in 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Bartelle of Moses Lake; two sisters, Louise Merten and Julie Mundy, both of Sacramento, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Darrell Fernquist Wallace, Idaho

Memorial service for Darrell Lee Fernquist, 52, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Wallace Elks Lodge. Shoshone Funeral Service in Wallace is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fernquist, who was born in Park Rapids, Minn., was shot to death on Friday in Pinehurst.

He grew up and attended schools in Wallace and had served with the Navy and then returned to the Silver Valley.

Mr. Fernquist married Penny Scott in 1986. He had worked as a miner for various local mines and was recently an equipment operator for Shoshone County and co-owner of Access Bail Bonds.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John and Brian Fernquist, both of Wallace; a stepson, Aaron Arthur of Osburn, Idaho; his mother, Mary Fernquist of Wallace; two brothers, Gary Fernquist of California and Joe Fernquist of Colorado; a sister, Sandra Alger of Pennsylvania; and one granddaughter.
