Harry Wallen Moscow, Idaho
Visitation for Harry William Wallen, 97, will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Service will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Moscow Cemetery.
Mr. Wallen, who was born in Bovill, Idaho, died Monday.
He grew up near Moscow and attended the Union School and in 1936 married Edythe Nelson.
Mr. Wallen became a farmer and served several terms as the Latah County road commissioner, retiring in 1978. He also played Santa Claus at local country schools.
Mr. Wallen later moved to the Good Samaritan Village in Moscow.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Renee Smith of Colbert and Sandra Chapin of California; a sister, Nellie Taylor of Colbert; four granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Village.
Samuel Avery Spokane
No service will be held for Samuel Willard Avery. Spokane Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.
A former 60-year resident of Kingston, Idaho, Mr. Avery died Monday. He was 91.
He was born in Harrison, Idaho, and worked for the Bunker Hill Co. in Kellogg for 30 years.
His wife, Beryl, died in 1971.
Mr. Avery had been living in Spokane for the past year.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Seipold of Spokane and Marie Hill of Roseburg, Ore.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Bernice Graves Federal Way, Wash.
Funeral Mass for Bernice Myrtle Graves, 79, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Spokane. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Graves, a former 66-year Spokane resident, died April 8. She was born in Butte, Mont.
She worked as a medical secretary for several years.
Mrs. Graves was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she served as president of the Altar Society and St. Margaret’s Guild. She also was a member of the Catholic Business Women’s Organization and the Accredited Records Technicians Association.
She had been living in Federal Way for the past year.
Her husband, Clarence, died in 1979.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Graves of Federal Way; and a sister, Josephine Barrow of Long Branch, Wash.

Esther Spence Escondido, Calif.
Service for Esther Marie Spence, 88, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Mrs. Spence, who was born in Kansas, died Monday.
She lived in Post Falls for 61 years and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Coeur d’Alene and the Royal Neighbors.
Mrs. Spence recently moved to Escondido.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Spence of Oregon; a daughter, Kathleen Mahor of Escondido; a sister, Clara Barnes of Sequim, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.
June (Norris) Hubbs Spokane
Memorial service for June M. (Norris) Hubbs, 72, will be at 2 p.m. today at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hubbs, who was born in Rosalia, Wash., died Monday.
She graduated from Kingston (Idaho) High School in 1942 and attended beauty college in Spokane.
Mrs. Hubbs owned and operated several beauty shops in the Spokane area, later owning and operating several restaurants. She also worked at the Spokane County Court House cafeteria for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Jack; two daughters, Jeni Watts of Spokane and Tracey Hein of Illinois; a son, Scott Hubbs of Spokane; and seven grandchildren.

Daniel Schneller Medical Lake
Memorial service for Daniel Kent Schneller, 46, will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Lakeland Village Chapel. A 32-year Spokane-area resident, Mr. Schneller died Saturday. He was born in the Tri-Cities.
Mr. Schneller was born with Down’s syndrome and an associated heart defect that could not be corrected with surgery.
He moved to Medical Lake in 1967, living at Lakeland Village and working in a sheltered workshop there until heart disease forced an early retirement.
Mr. Schneller was a supporter of the folk music community in Spokane.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Schneller.
Survivors include his mother, Carol Brevoort Schneller of Medical Lake; and a sister, Judi Gibbs of Seattle.

Hildegarde Rehrmann Post Falls
Graveside service for Hildegarde C. Rehrmann, 75, was Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rehrmann, who was born in Romania, died Friday.
She married Franz Rehrmann in Germany in 1956 and moved to the Post Falls area 24 years ago.
Her husband died in 1990.
Survivors include two sons, Norman and Robert Rehrmann, both of Post Falls; a brother, Edward Cambefort of Germany; two sisters, Luzy and Chupie; and one grandson, Carl.
Memorial contributions may be made to a kidney foundation.
James Bakey Priest River, Idaho
No service will be held for James Patrick Bakey. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bakey, who died April 1, was born in Iowa City, Iowa.
He worked as a long-haul truck driver for many years.
Mr. Bakey moved to Priest River in 1986.
He is survived by a host of extended family.
Juanita Powell Coeur d’Alene
Private service for Juanita C. Powell, 77, will be held at a later date. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Powell, who was born in Houston, died Monday.
She grew up in Texas and California and graduated from high school in Los Angeles. She lived throughout the United States until settling in Coeur d’Alene in 1959.
She had worked as a certified public accountant for Palmer and Bergman and later owned an accounting business.
Mrs. Powell moved to Spokane in 1986 and returned to Coeur d’Alene in 1996 where she lived at Heritage Place Retirement Center.
Her second husband, E.L. Powell, died in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Wargi of Coeur d’Alene; her former spouse, William Sidebottom of Arizona; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Susie Askerman Spokane
Memorial service for Susie E. Askerman, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.
A 40-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Askerman died Monday. She was born in Valley City, N.D.
Mrs. Askerman was a homemaker.
Her husband, Richard, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Askerman of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Frances Fogarty Stanwood, Wash.
Funeral Mass for Frances Fogarty, 95, was Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Arlington, Wash. Burial will be at 1 p.m. today at Jump Off Joe (Wash.) Cemetery. Gilbertsons Funeral Home in Stanwood is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Fogarty, who was born in Floodwood, Minn., died Saturday.
She married James Fogarty in 1922 and in 1928 moved to Valley, Wash., where she worked for Kulzer’s General Store for 22 years.
In 1977 Mrs. Fogarty moved to Chewelah, Wash., where she was active with the Senior Citizens Center and helped establish the Chewelah Community Food Bank, managing it for a number of years.
She was named Chewelah’s Citizen of the Year in 1986 and the honored citizen in the Valley Fair Parade in 1993.
Mrs. Fogarty moved to Stanwood in 1996.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Fogarty, and a daughter, Patti Cramer; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Henry Sevier Spokane
Funeral for Henry Emmitt Sevier, 83, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A 37-year Spokane County resident, Mr. Sevier died Sunday. He was born in Wyoming.
He worked as a welder for the Spokane Culvert Co. for several years.
He was baptized into the Church of the Firstborn in 1949, where he has been a member and served as an elder.
Survivors include his wife Rose Mae; three sons, David, Douglas and Dallace Sevier; two daughters, Claudia Montague and Lulu Donoho; a brother, Frederick Sevier; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
