S-R Invites Readers To Workshop

Over the past few years, The Spokesman-Review has made an effort to place more focus on religion and spirituality.

Our news coverage increased, thanks to reporter Kelly McBride’s efforts. When the Faith & Values page debuted last November, we launched several features that asked readers to help us explore our spiritual landscape. Those include the House of Worship, Spiritual Leader and Spiritual Journey.

We’ve appreciated all your help. And we’d like to make it easier for you to get your information to us - your events and story ideas - and to get your voices heard in the pages of the newspaper.

So we’re inviting you to a workshop on May 26 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at The Spokesman-Review, 999 W. Riverside.

The workshop will include discussions on how the newspaper works; how to write an effective press release; getting your voice heard in the media; what to do when bad news strikes; and how news decisions are made. Also, a panel of clergy and lay people will talk about good and bad experiences with the media.

The workshop is free, but we do need reservations since space is limited. Please RSVP to Tina Carey at 459-5485 or e-mail at tinac@spokesman.com.
