Book Club
Name: The Three Cs Book Club
City: Coeur d’Alene
Group history: Club was formed by members of the charitable organization The Three Cs, which stands for Cancer and Community Charities. The larger group has about 500 numbers, some 80 of whom are members of the club, which raises money (with the help of the Coeur d’Alene Book & Game store) through the purchase of books. Meets monthly from September to May, and has a local scholar lead the group - which usually attracts about 40 members per meeting - in the discussion.
Book reviewed: “Shadow Ranch” (HarperCollins, 384 pages, $13 paper) by Jo-ann Mapson.
Group representative: Leslie Johnson
The review: Psychologist Mary Dietzen led the discussion, which Johnson says the group enjoyed. “We had a great time sorting out the family dynamics of this powerful, wealthy, dysfunctional group of people,” Johnson said. “It was a good read.”
