EV Heads Into Lead

East Valley has a head up on Cheney after Tuesday’s Frontier League boys soccer play.

Nikko Gibson scored a goal on a header, 15 minutes into play, and EV (5-1-4 overall, 2-0 league) won a 2-1 decision at Cheney to snap a first-place tie.

David Ettinger scored late in the first half for a 2-0 lead. Andy Davis of the Blackhawks (3-7, 1-1) also scored on a header.

Also in the FL, Tony Wacenske and Mike Shafer scored three times apiece as West Valley (5-4-2, 1-1) registered a 10-1 win at Clarkston (0-7-1, 0-2). WV’s Ty Roberts added two goals.

Sousa Gorjes had five goals in a span of 15 minutes during Pullman’s 9-0 win at Chewelah (5-5) in the Great Northern League.

Trevor Tharp scored the first two goals for Pullman (7-1) and assisted on the third, Gorjes’ first.

Also in the GNL, Jake Moug scored twice to push his season total past 20 goals, leading Riverside (8-0) to a 4-0 win over visiting Deer Park (5-5). B.J. Ostby scored the other Riverside goals. Wink Hodgson assisted on both Moug goals.
