Greater Spokane League softball followed a easy-to-decipher pattern Thursday.
The league’s top five teams defeated the league’s bottom five teams.
Heather Bunkowske (2-0) pitched a five-hitter, allowing no earned runs, as first-place University (11-1, 9-1) snapped Gonzaga Prep’s three-game winning streak, 11-1.
Megan Owen had three hits, and Vanessa Shelton and Jodi Schab tripled for the Titans. Rebecca Dollar had two hits for the Bullpups (4-8, 4-6).
Jessica Murray struck out six in three innings and Dorthea Gooch scored three times, leading second-place Shadle Park (10-2, 8-2) to a 10-0 win at North Central (0-10, 0-10).
Katie Hoffman added a two-run double in Shadle’s four-run first. Nicole Hare doubled for North Central.
Jamie Merrill struck out 10 and pitched a one-hitter in Rogers’ 5-2 win over visiting Mead (3-9, 2-8). Rogers is tied for third place with Central Valley and Lewis and Clark.
Crystal Humphries hit a solo homer and Shronna Martin had two hits for Rogers (8-3, 7-3). Betsie Rayner had the lone hit off Merrill, a first-inning triple.
Shanelle Test struck out 10 and Adrianne Jensen had a two-run double during CV’s 13-8 win over visiting Ferris (4-8, 2-8).
Carlie Ostrom and Dawn Stangland added RBI doubles in a six-run third for CV (8-4, 7-3). Annie Boyd and Michelle Hoy of the Saxons were both 3 for 4.
Kaylene Fountain struck out 13 and had a two-run triple in the fifth, leading LC (8-4, 7-3) to a 4-0 win over Mt. Spokane (4-7, 4-6) at Hart Field.
Janna Evans added a pair of RBI doubles for the Tigers. Fountain checked the Wildcats on two singles.
Rachael Kinservik (5-2) threw a two-hitter, striking out eight and walking two, and Kettle Falls (6-2, 3-1) defeated visiting Lakeside 10-1 in the Great Northern League.
Kinservik also doubled twice. Lacey Jones had three hits, including a double, for Kettle Falls. The Eagles are 1-6, 0-4.
