Maude Laughlin Spokane
Maude Irene (Krum) Laughlin celebrates her 106th birthday today.
Laughlin was born April 25, 1893, in Rathdrum, Idaho. She’s lived in the Inland Northwest her entire life, and moved to Spokane seven years ago.
She and John S. Laughlin were married in 1910; he died in 1957.
Along with being a homemaker, Laughlin was a seamstress and pastel artist.
She has three daughters, Peggy Cunningham of Otis Orchards, Nancy Strong of Coupeville, Wash., and Lois Scott of Perry, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
How has she lived so long? She takes life “one day at a time and just keeps breathing,” said her daughter, Peggy Cunningham.
