John Posnick Mullan, Idaho

Memorial service for John Vernon Posnick, 72, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wallace. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Posnick, who was born in Livingston, Mont., died Thursday.

He grew up in Mullan and graduated from Mullan High School.

He attended the University of Montana.

Mr. Posnick served with the Army during World War II, and in 1950 married Della Bordon.

He returned to the Silver Valley and owned the Silver Corner Bar and Grill in Wallace for 21 years.

Mr. Posnick was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Wallace Elks Lodge, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, the Wallace Gyro Club and was a former member of the UI Vandal Booster Club.

He served two terms as an Idaho state representative in the 1960s.

His wife died in 1996.

Survivors include two sons, John Posnick of Osburn, Idaho, and Steven Posnick of Mullan; two sisters, Helen Kuula of Bellevue, Wash., and Patricia Johnson of Maple Valley, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Ruth Longwell Spokane

No service will be held for Ruth E. Longwell, 71, at her request. Spokane Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Longwell died April 17.

She came to Spokane in 1953. She moved out of the area for a period of time before returning to Spokane in 1976.

Mrs. Longwell was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Vern; three daughters, Kathy Weigate and Patti Longwell, both of Spokane, and Debi Cure of Idaho; a son, Michael Longwell of California; two brothers and a sister; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Linda Larrabee Sandpoint

Private family service for Linda May Larrabee, 56, was previously held. x Mrs. Larrabee, who was born in Cheboygan County, Mich., died Thursday.

She was a longtime Sandpoint resident and owned several area restaurants, including Carrera’s in the Bonner Mall for the past 12 years.

She was a member of the Sandpoint Elks Lodge and participated in Bloomsday.

Survivors include a son, Jim Martin; her mother, Mary Martin; two sisters, Marilyn Kemp and Betty Williams; four brothers, Gerry, Everett, Gorden and Roy Martin; and two grandchildren.

Roy Fritz Heron, Mont.

Memorial service for Roy Vernon Fritz, 87, will be at 3 p.m. (MST) today at the Heron Community Center. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fritz, who was born in Kansas, died Wednesday.

He began a career with Crown-Zellerback Paper Mill in Camas, Wash., in 1942, retiring and moving to Heron in 1972.

Mr. Fritz married Lillian Baldaccini in 1960.

He was a rancher in the Heron area.

Survivors include his wife; six children, Vernon Fritz of Utah, Robert Fritz of Spokane, Gary Fritz of Indiana, Barbara Wakefield of Washougal, Wash., Anita Joseph of Vancouver, Wash., and Arthur Ratcliff of Clark Fork, Idaho; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Brian Mishler Spokane

Graveside service for Brian C. Mishler, 33, will be at 10 a.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane area resident, Mr. Mishler died Wednesday. He was born in Spokane.

Mr. Mishler graduated from Deer Park High School in 1985.

He worked as a cook for restaurants in the Spokane area for several years.

Mr. Mishler was a 10-year member of the Spokane Pool League.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Mary and Don McKay of Spokane; his former stepfather, Donald Dickinson of Loon Lake, Wash.; three sisters, Bobbie Jean Demandante of San Antonio, Anjanette Camacho of Chesapeake Bay, Va., and Crystal Dickinson of Sacramento, Calif.; his grandparents, Lucille Harris of Spokane, and George and Wilma Johnson.

Howard Barrill Spokane

Private inurnment for Howard N. Barrill, 86, will be at Fairmount Memorial Park at a later date. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 38-year Spokane resident, Mr. Barrill died Thursday. He was born in Darby, Mont.

He worked in lumber camps as a youth and later as a brakeman for the railroad.

Mr. Barrill served in the Army during world War II in the European Theater.

After his discharge from the military he continued to work as a brakeman for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 15 years. He later became a nurses aide for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Spokane. He retired in the mid 1970s after 15 years.

His wife, Dorothy, died in 1970.

Survivors include a daughter, Pete Greenwalt of Moses Lake; a son, Rich Taylor of Grants Pass, Ore.; a sister, Marjorie of Montana; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
