I-90 Project Brings Detours
If Sprague Avenue near Interstate 90 lies in your future travel plans, plan to be frustrated.
Today through Friday, Sprague will be closed at the I-90 interchange from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sprague traffic will be detoured off Sprague onto Fancher Road, Broadway Avenue and Park Road. See map at right.
Also today, eastbound I-90 traffic will be reduced to two lanes at Havana Avenue.
Sprague’s westbound freeway on-ramp will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Also Thursday, tentative plans call for switching traffic onto the two new temporary lanes between Havana and Sprague.
The construction is part of the state Department of Transportation’s project to rebuild the freeway’s Sprague interchange.
Travel near Sprague along I-90 should improve by next week, DOT spokesman Al Gilson said, but traffic snarls will appear farther west.
Starting Monday, DOT plans to start repairing the I-90 bridge over Latah Creek west of downtown.
Throughout the three-week project, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction across the bridge.
Also, the ramp from northbound U.S. 195 to eastbound I-90 will be closed throughout the project.
For part of the project, the westbound I-90 ramp to southbound U.S. 195 will be closed.
