Calling All Gardeners Contest

Phyllis Stephens, gardening columnist for The Spokesman-Review, and Susan Mulvihill, online gardener for the newspaper’s Web site, are joining forces for a special contest — and want your best gardening tips.

Ideas might include how to get the earliest tomato harvest or Aunt Mildred’s sure-fire method for growing prize-winning roses.

The contest will run May through September, with the best tips published on the first and third Fridays of each month. Winners and their tips will be listed in the newspaper and on Spokane.net. They will receive a new garden book.

Send your pointers to: Garden Tip Contest, The Spokesman-Review, P.O. Box 2160, Spokane, WA 99210, or by e-mail to susanm@spokesman.com. You also can submit your entry in our online gardening section at www.spokane.net/garden.

You may enter as often as you like; be sure to include your name, address and telephone number with each entry. Deadline is 5 p.m. Sept. 30. All entries become the property of The Spokesman-Review and all decisions are final.
