WSU’S Smith Ready For Work After Surgery

Washington State University president Sam Smith expects to return to work next week after undergoing prostate cancer surgery on March 31.

Smith wants to be back in time for a regents meeting on May 7 and the university’s 103rd commencement on May 8.

“President Smith has been doing work by telephone and e-mail over the past 10 days and is eager to get back,” said Sally Rush, Smith’s chief of staff.

Smith underwent successful surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
