Florence Durant Spokane
Florence (Lovinfdoaa) Durant, a Spokane resident of more than 30 years, celebrated her 102nd birthday last month.
She was born July 20, 1896, in Hamilton, Ill.
Before she retired in 1961, Durant had been a teacher, worked in a bank and on the Railroad Retirement Board.
She married Martin Durant in 1918. He died in 1963.
Their children, Lyle Durant and Betty Durant, are both deceased.
She has seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Her secrets to long life, she says, are to always keep moving and be involved in activities. She likes to challenge her mind by playing cards and working crossword puzzles.
Durant has a great sense of humor and is still quite active, said an employee at Brighton Court Retirement Community, where she lives.
