Christopher Anderson Spokane

Visitation for Christopher S. “Chris” Anderson, 41, will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Anderson, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.

He attended St. Ann’s Grade School and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1976, where he played football. He also played for Bakersfield (Calif.) City College for one year and for Pasadena (Calif.) City College. He played semi-pro football for Spokane’s Golden Hawks and Fury teams at one time.

Mr. Anderson worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Trentwood for 20 years. He retired in 1996.

He also was an aspiring song writer, hoping to one day have his works published.

Survivors include his grandmother, Altha Mae Jones; four sisters, Cynthia Campbell of Inglewood, Calif., and Vickie Singleton, Sandra Smith and Rhonda Anderson, all of Spokane; and a brother, Terrence Anderson of Spokane.

Nicolene Allen Spokane

Memorial service for Nicolene Allen will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Allen died Wednesday. She was 55. She was a member of the first graduating class at Shadle Park High School and attended business college in Seattle.

Mrs. Allen began her career with School District 81 working at Shaw Middle School in the late 1970s for 10 years. She moved to Glover Middle School to help run the Learning Opportunity Center and worked there for 22 years.

Mrs. Allen was a member of the Catholic Church and Jobs Daughters.

Survivors include a daughter, Danielle Matlock; three sons, Brady, Bryce and Derik Allen; her mother, Patricia Pierce of Spokane; a brother, Brenton Harnack, and a sister, Cathy Pierce, both of Spokane; and six grandchildren.

Fred Kupers Ritzville, Wash.

Visitation for Fred J. Kupers, a longtime Ritzville resident, will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Kupers, 94, died Friday. He was born in Mohler, Wash.

In 1928 he married Freda Schafer.

Mr. Kupers worked as an equipment operator with the Adams county Road Department for many years, before retiring in 1966.

He was a member of the Ritzville American Legion and a lifetime member of the Brotherhood of Friends in Spokane.

His wife died in 1994.

Survivors include two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Jo Clark Spokane

Memorial service for Mary Jo Clark, 68, will be at 1 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

A 50-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Clark died Wednesday. She was born in Conrad, Mont.

Mrs. Clark graduated from Marycliff High School.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Kelly and Daniel Clark, both of Spokane, and David Clark of Portland; two daughters, Judy VanDamme and Cynthia Saunders, both of Spokane; two brothers, Larry Hynes of Spokane and Thomas Hynes of Olympia; a sister, Patricia Little of Spokane; and five grandchildren.

Cailla Ove Spokane

Memorial service for Cailla B. Ove. 94, will be at 10 a.m. today at Central Lutheran Church. Graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ove, a 20-year Spokane resident, died Thursday. She was born in Keene, N.D.

She was a homemaker, and a member of Central Lutheran Church and the Esther Circle.

Her husband of 53 years, Maxwell, died in 1978.

Survivors include a son, Stanley Ove of Coeur d’Alene; five daughters, Irene Belstad of Spokane, Maxine Pfundheller of Hayden, Idaho, Lorraine Henry of Chugiak, Alaska, Marjorie Stanton of Kettle Falls, Wash., and Shirley Belstad of Coeur d’Alene; one brother; five sisters; 30 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Clarence Best Spokane

Funeral for Clarence Best, 87, is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Best, a Spokane resident since 1927, died Friday. He was born in Garfield, Wash.

He served in the Army as a staff sergeant in the European Theater during World War II, and later worked as an auto mechanic.

Mr. Best was a lifetime member of the Hillyard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Marietta; a sister, Louisa Block, and a brother, Wayne Best, both of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Frances Wurzburg Spokane

No service will be held for Frances Wurzburg, 86, at her request. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wurzburg, who was born in Nelson, British Columbia, died Friday.

In 1936 she married Sidney Wurzburg, and they moved to Marcus, Wash. They moved to Spokane 58 years ago.

Mrs. Wurzburg was a homemaker, and a member of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and the Terrace Garden Club.

Her husband died in 1985.

Survivors include a son, Sid Wurzburg of Seattle; and a brother, Sidney Simcock of Christina Lake, British Columbia.
