Procter & Gamble Co. is jumping into the lucrative pet nutrition business by buying pet food maker Iams Co. for $2.05 billion in cash.

More than 200 carpenters are expected to attend the Pacfic Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters meeting, today through Saturday at the Ridpath Hotel. The council includes 53 local unions in Washington, Oregon, Montana and Idaho.

Albertson’s Inc. has asked a federal judge to dismiss a portion of a class-action lawsuit accusing the supermarket chain of illegal labor practices. More than 70 employees in six states, including Idaho, have filed six lawsuits accusing Albertson’s of requiring them to work overtime without pay and discouraging them from reporting injuries.
