School Board Candidates Will Interview In Post Falls

School trustees will interview two candidates at the end of the month to fill a vacancy on the Post Falls School Board.

Michelle Lippert, a philosophy instructor at North Idaho College, and Don Morgan, a financial consultant with Salomon Smith Barney, have filed letters of intent with the board.

The vacancy was created when chairman Kevin Schneidmiller, a board member since 1990, announced last month he is moving out of the trustee zone he represents.

Lippert has lived in Post Falls for nine years and has been a teacher for 20 years. She has two children at Ponderosa Elementary School.

Morgan, a member of the Kootenai County Property Owners Association, has spoken out against the district’s handling of last May’s school board election. A state ethics committee is currently investigating that race, in which a parent group printed fliers endorsing the incumbents and handed them out to elementary students.

The two candidates will be interviewed by school board members at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 30 in the Post Falls City Council chambers. The public is invited but may not question the candidates. The board may select a trustee following the interviews.
