William Woody Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for William Martin “Bill” Woody, 84, will be held at a later date at Woody’s Cove in Hagerman, Idaho. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of local arrangements.
Mr. Woody, who was born in Hagerman, died Thursday.
He graduated from high school in Hagerman and attended electrical college in Salt Lake City for two years.
In 1940 he married Elaine Bingham, and they lived on a farm in Hagerman before moving to Rupert, Idaho, in 1954. He started a career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service.
In 1960 he transferred to Hailey, Idaho, and in 1964 he moved to Moscow, Idaho. He worked for the Department of Agriculture Research at Washington State University.
Mr. Woody retired in 1980 and moved to Twin Lakes near Rathdrum, Idaho. In 1994 he moved to Coeur d’Alene.
He was a member of Hailey Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star Bethany Chapter and the Moscow Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Woody of Pinehurst, Idaho; a daughter, Mardell Ackerman of Rathdrum; a brother, Lyons Woody of Hagerman; a sister, Rachael Nichols of California; four grandsons and five great-granddaughters.

Henry Kamps Spokane
Visitation for Henry “Hank” Kamps, 86, will be from noon to 6:30 p.m. today followed by a vigil service at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. George’s Catholic Church in Post Falls. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.
Mr. Kamps, who was born in North Dakota, died Thursday.
He moved to Coeur d’Alene with his family in 1919 and to Post Falls in 1920. He graduated from Post Falls High School in 1931.
Mr. Kamps enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1941, serving in the China, Burma, Indian Theater. He was among the first from Idaho to receive a discharge on the point system.
He married Martha Laakonen in 1947. He worked for Potlatch Forests in Coeur d’Alene and retired in 1978.
Mr. Kamps was a member of the Flying Tigers of the 14th Air Force Association, St. George’s Catholic Church, Post Falls Senior Citizens and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Kamps moved to Spokane two years ago.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wayne Kamps of Spokane and Lonnie Kamps of Clarkston, Wash.; a daughter, Kathy Kamps of Spokane; a foster son, John Beal of Pocatello, Idaho; a brother, Don Kamps of Post Falls; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Raymond Vanderbusse St. Maries
Graveside service for Raymond “Ray” Vanderbusse, 93, was Friday at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Vanderbusse, who was born in Oostende, Belgium, died Thursday.
He served with the Belgian military and was involved with the Resistance. He also owned several businesses in Belgium, including a restaurant and and inn.
Mr. Vanderbusse later immigrated to the United States. He worked as a coal miner in Roslyn, Wash., for many years before moving to the Coeur d’Alene area in 1990.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Renildis in 1989.
Survivors include a son, Aime Vanderbusse of Dalton Gardens, Idaho; a grandson, Bob; and five great-grandchildren.
Norman Trogstad Post Falls
Memorial service for Norman Trogstad, 71, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Trogstad, who died Thursday, was born in Williston, N.D.
He grew up and attended schools in North Dakota. In 1945 he married Margaret Bronder.
Mr. Trogstad worked for Cenex in North Dakota, Montana and Southern Idaho, a career that spanned 41 years, before retiring in 1992 and moving to Post Falls.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the Elks Club.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Greg Trogstad of Kansas, Doug Trogstad of Shelton, Wash., Lon Trogstad of Missoula, Grady Trogstad of Coeur d’Alene and Blaine Trogstad of Colorado; two daughters, Diane Boyer and Debra Lawrence, both of Sandpoint; a sister, Carol Ann of Williston; and three brothers, Earl, Roy and Darrell Trogstad, all of Williston.

Ruth Smeltz Moscow, Idaho
Graveside service for Ruth D. (Lewis) Smeltz, 90, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pullman City Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.
A six-year Moscow resident, Mrs. Smeltz died Aug.4. She was born in Erwin, S.D.
As a child her family moved to Santa Cruz, Calif. After graduating from high school she moved to Seattle and worked as a beautician for several years.
She married Raymon Smeltz in 1934, and they moved to Pullman.
Mrs. Smeltz was a homemaker, and later worked as a cashier and office assistant in the administration building of Washington State University for a few years.
She was a member of the Pullman Lunch Bunch and an honorary member of the Air Force Air Defense Team. She also was a Red Cross volunteer with the Canteen Corps.
Her husband died in 1998.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Eric Smeltz of Spokane; and a granddaughter.

Christine Tendall Coeur d’Alene
Graveside service for Christine C. Tendall, 98, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Tendall, who was born in Binford, N.D., died Thursday.
She grew up in North Dakota and Montana, and had worked for the Boy Scouts of America in Fargo, N.D.
Mrs. Tendall later moved to Cooperstown, N.D., and served as the executive secretary of the Griggs County Welfare Board in the 1930s and early 1940s.
She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1945 and was active with Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Women’s Club.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, L.P. Larson in 1963 and L.O. Tendall in 1969.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Young of Coeur d’Alene; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
