New Column Debuts
On page D2 of today’s INLife, you’ll find Ask Dr. H, a weekly medical Q&A by Dr. Mitchell Hecht, an Atlanta physician who specializes in internal medicine.
Ask Dr. H will serve as a temporary substitute for Frank Bartel’s “Accent on Retirement” column, which resumes Sept. 28.
Hecht’s column seeks to answer such questions as “Why do we get a fever when we get sick?,” “Why do we get the hiccups?” and “What do all those abbreviations you doctors write on prescriptions actually mean?”
Hecht earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He taught high school physics and chemistry at New York Military Academy.
Hecht received his medical degree in 1990 from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his residency program at University of Connecticut.
