Anthony George Completes Army Program

Anthony George graduated with honors from the U.S. Army Green-To-Gold program at Seattle University, earning a degree in psychology and the rank of lieutenant.

George is now attending the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, Ga. In February he will be stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky., where he will serve as a platoon leader.

A 1988 graduate of Central Valley High School, George is the son and stepson of Barbara and Dale LaBrosse, Spokane, and Randall George, Escondido, Calif.

Gretchen Rapp received the Monroe Bell Prize in Biblical Scholarship from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn., and was elected to the university’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Membership is based on personal qualifications, academic success and scholarly achievement in liberal arts and sciences.

Rapp, daughter of Dennis and Irene Rapp, Veradale, is a religion and political science major.

Donavon Chase received one of eight $2,000 regional scholarships given in the United States and Canada by the Educational Foundation of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, based on academic achievement.

Chase is a sophomore at Spokane Falls Community College pursuing a degree in elementary education.

He is the son of Calvin and Cathy Chase, Tekoa, Wash.

Three Spokane students attending Carroll College in Helena have been inducted into national honor societies. They are all juniors.

Derrick Foge, who is majoring in mathematics, and Brooks Laselle, a biology major, were honored with memberships in the Gamma Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma. Laselle is also a Manion Scholar, a recipient of an endowed scholarship from the university’s biology department.

Neely Gibbons, an English-secondary education major, was inducted into Psi Chi.

Foge is the son of Ernest and Helen Foge; Laselle is the son of Thomas and Marian Laselle; and Gibbons is the daughter of Patricia Gibbons, all of Spokane.
