Manslaughter Trial For Drunken Driving Set

From Staff

The trial for Timothy D. Cooper, who is accused of killing a Rathdrum teenager in a car accident last spring, is set for Nov. 30 in Bonner County.

Jessica A. Haller, 18, died in the March 13 head-on collision on Granite Hill. She was driving a Honda Accord, and Cooper was driving a Ford Bronco in the opposite direction.

Cooper, 33, is accused of crossing the center line while driving drunk. He is charged with vehicular manslaughter and four counts of aggravated driving under the influence for injuries suffered by passengers in the two vehicles.

During Cooper’s arraignment in 1st District Court on Monday, his attorney requested that Cooper be allowed to drive during his bond-release from jail in order to work. Judge James Michaud denied that request.
