Bethayne `Betty’ Robinson Sandpoint

Visitation for Bethayne “Betty” Robinson, 85, will be today from noon to 6 p.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Funeral is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Mrs. Robinson, who was born in Flagler, Colo., died Monday.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Flagler and received a two-year teaching degree in Amarillo, Texas.

Mrs. Robinson taught school in Flagler. In 1935 she married Lloyd Robinson. They settled in Sandpoint in 1936.

She began a teaching career with the Bonner County School District in 1945 and taught in Laclede, Sagle, Priest River, Southside and Lincoln schools. She received a bachelor degree from Whitworth College in 1964. Mrs. Robinson retired in 1978 as principal of Lincoln School.

She was a member of Sandpoint United Methodist Church, the Civic Club and Delta Kappa Gamma sorority and was a volunteer cook at the church food booth at the Bonner County Fair.

Her husband died in 1998.

Survivors include four children, Agnes Harshaw of Great Falls, Mont., Stella Heimbigner of California, Jacob Robinson of Tacoma and Leona McNett of Post Falls; a brother, Donald Page of California; two sisters, Agnes Loutzenhiser of Flagler and Margaret Harris of California; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Melda Newton Sagle, Idaho

Graveside memorial service for Melda A. Newton, 86, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa, Wash. Kramer Funeral Home in Tekoa is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Rosalia, Wash., Mrs. Newton died Tuesday.

She attended schools in Tekoa, graduating from high school there in 1931.

In 1935 she received a nursing degree from the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane.

Mrs. Newton worked as a registered nurse for many years. She worked as a private nurse in the Palouse and for hospitals and private doctors in Boise. She retired in the late 1960s.

She had been a Sagle resident for the past three years.

Survivors include a son, Wiley Beaux of Sagle; a stepson, Gene Newton of Robertson, Wyo.; a sister, Martha Dodson of Boise; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ruth Dallas Spokane

Memorial service for Ruth Dallas, 65, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Pines Cemetery. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dallas, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Monday.

Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Hill of Grandview, Wash.; a sister, Laura of Sunnyside, Wash.; and three brothers, John, Larry and Virgil, all of Washington state.

Hugo Bohl Rathdrum, Idaho

Viewing for Hugo L. Bohl, 82, will be Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum.

Mr. Bohl, who was born in North Dakota, died Tuesday.

He served with the Army in the Aleutian Islands during World War II.

He later lived in North Dakota and worked as a telephone equipment installer for Stromberg-Carlson General Dynamics. He retired and went to work on the north slope of the Alaska Pipeline.

In 1964 he married Leah McLaughlin. They settled in Rathdrum in 1966, where he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9894 and attended Rathdrum Bible Church.

He also was a longtime member of American Legion Post 205 in North Dakota.

His wife died in 1986.

Mr. Bohl is survived by a son, Raymond McLaughlin of Oregon; two daughters, Joyce Cocca of Oregon and Rae Nette Parisi of Rathdrum; two brothers, George and Jacob Bohl, both of North Dakota; two sisters, Mary Buskness of North Dakota and Adaline Nelson of California; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Frances `Betty’ Case Spokane

Funeral for Frances “Betty” Case, 74, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Case, who was born in Missoula, died Monday.

She came to Spokane in 1942 and later graduated from the Sacred Heart School of Nursing.

In 1947 she married Donald Case.

Mrs. Case worked as a registered nurse at several hospitals, including Sacred Heart, Holy Family and the Shriners Hospital for Children. She retired from the nursing staff at Deer Park Hospital.

Mrs. Case was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Teresa Elliot of Enumclaw, Wash., Sharyl Parkin of Seattle, and Debra Kelly of Vacaville, Calif.; a son, Michael Case of Santa Cruz, Calif.; a sister, Marilyn Boyd of Priest River, Idaho; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Beverly Richards Spokane

No service will be held for Beverly R. Richards at her request. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Richards, who was born in Tekoa, Wash., died Monday. She was 85.

A longtime Spokane resident, Mrs. Richards was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, John; a son, John Richards; and a daughter, Sharon Livengood, both of Spokane; one granddaughter and one great-grandchild.

Maury Hasty Hayden, Idaho

Memorial service for Maury Hasty, 79, was Wednesday at his former ranch in Harrison. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hasty, who was born in Iowa, died Monday.

He grew up and graduated from high school in Iowa and then worked on the family farm and as a farm equipment mechanic.

Mr. Hasty joined the Navy in 1941 and served in Saipan in the Pacific during World War II. He later returned to Iowa and worked in the tire business.

In 1949 he moved to California and opened Hasty’s Equipment Rental with his brother, Russell. The store later expanded to include equipment rental businesses in three other locations.

Mr. Hasty partially retired in 1984 to a ranch in Harrison. He moved to Hayden in 1995 and was past president of the American Rental Association and was a Mason.

Survivors include a daughter, Moree Seitz of California; and seven grandchildren.

Mildred Smith Plummer, Idaho

Service for Mildred C. Smith, 96, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sanders (Idaho) Free Methodist Community Church. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Oakesdale (Wash.) Cemetery. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Smith, who was born in Summitville, Ind., died Monday.

She moved to the Windfall Pass area near Plummer in the 1940s and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Free Methodist Church in Tekoa, Wash., where she was active with the Women’s Missionary Society.

Her husband, Glen, died in 1984.

Survivors include two grandsons, Samuel Weitman of Plummer and John Weitman of Oakesdale.
