Beverly Ethredge Deer Park

Funeral for Beverly Mae Ethredge, 68, will be at 2 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Medical Center Doctor’s Building Chapel. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 55-year Spokane-area resident, Mrs. Ethredge died Tuesday. She was born in Mullan, Idaho.

Mrs. Ethredge retired from the central supply department at Sacred Heart Medical Center in 1996 after 48 years. She was also a longtime service league volunteer at the hospital.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Ralph; a daughter, Shelley Tindle of Bend, Ore.; a son, Sonny Ethredge of Colbert; a brother, Charles Brandt of Colville; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Eleanor (Logan) Porter Spokane

Memorial service for Eleanor (Logan) Porter, a 75-year Spokane resident, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Porter, who was born in Hanford, Calif., died Tuesday. She was 82.

She attended Hillyard Church of God and was a member of Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Porter was active in various church activities. She taught Sunday school for 60 years and spoke at many Christian organizations and on Christian radio programs.

Mrs. Porter was also a Master Gardener.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert; a son, Neil Logan; a daughter, Gayle Brown; two stepchildren, Kathyrn and Giyr Porter; six grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.

Martha `Mollie’ Brown Bellingham

Graveside service for Martha M. “Mollie” Brown, 81, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Pines Cemetery in Spokane. Jones-Moles Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Bellingham is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brown, who was born in Neuwied, Germany, died Wednesday.

She worked as nurse until 1948, when she moved to Spokane to marry Joseph Brown.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker, known for her creative talents in baking, cake decorating, needlecraft and beadwork.

Her husband died in 1984.

She moved to Bellingham four years ago.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Brown of Bellingham and Michael Brown of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Charles Moser Spokane

Memorial service for Charles L. Moser, 57, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Minnehaha Covenant Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Colfax, Wash., Mr. Moser died Tuesday.

He worked for the Spokane Public Works Department for 20 years.

Mr. Moser was a member of the Spokane Area Rocket Club and the Spokane Rifle Club.

His first wife, Marsha, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of six years, Rebecca; a son, Timothy Moser of Littlerock, Calif.; three daughters, Juliann Moser of Silverton, Ore., Molly Moser and Rachel Pierce, both at home; two sisters, Sally Wilke of Spokane and Nancy Delamater of Lewiston; and four grandchildren.

Maurine Tiede Spokane

Visitation for Maurine O. Tiede, a 55-year Spokane resident, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Tiede, who died Tuesday, who was born in the Methow Valley of Washington. She was 78.

She was a homemaker and a member of Foothills Community Church, Blue Ribbon Circle and the Central Grange.

Her husband, Leo, died in 1987.

Mrs. Tiede is survived by a daughter, Tommye Schwerin of Sagle, Idaho; a son, Richard Tiede of Spokane; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Harold Barth Spokane

Memorial gathering for Harold Walter Barth, 84, will be at 11 a.m. today at Fairwood Retirement Village. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg, Wis. Burial will be at the Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Barth, who was born in Cedarburg, died Tuesday.

As a young man, he worked in woolen mills, in a brewery and for the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Mr. Barth was studying to become a certified public accountant and was working as an accountant for Deloitt Haskins in Milwaukee when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II.

He served as an officer with the 50th General Hospital Division under Gen. George Patton in Scotland and France. He was a veteran of the battle at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.

In 1946 he married 1st Lt. Thelma Braker, with whom he served in World War II.

Mr. Barth was recalled to active duty, serving as the hospital financial administrator at Fort Campbell during the Korean War. He retired from the military as a major.

He and his wife lived in Wisconsin, where he worked as an accountant, before moving to Brewster, Wash. He worked as a field hand and then as an accountant in an apple warehouse in Brewster.

His family moved from East Wenatchee to Spokane in 1966.

Over the years, Mr. Barth worked as a tax auditor for the state of Washington and as one of the first administrators of the Davenport (Wash.) Hospital. In 1979 he retired from Unisys Corp. after 25 years as a field representative.

Mr. Barth was a member of the Catholic Church.

His wife died in 1998.

Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Barth and Lynne Getz, both of Blowing Rock, N.C.; a brother, John Barth, and a sister, Arlene Krueger.

Carl Pittman Fairfield

Visitation for Carl Pittman, 89, will be from noon to 10 p.m. today at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Fairfield. Funeral is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at Fairfield Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Pines Cemetery.

A lifetime Fairfield-area resident, Mr. Pittman died Tuesday. He was born in Latah.

Mr. Pittman was longtime wheat farmer.

He was a member of Waverly Masonic Lodge and the Waverly Grange.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Pittman of Charlotte, Vt., and Cory Pittman of Fairfield; one sister, Arnetta Crabb of California; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southeast Spokane Historical Society.

Bernadette Yurksitis Spokane

Funeral Mass for Bernadette A. Yurksitis, a 14-year Spokane resident, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Yurksitis, who was born in Pennsylvania, died Monday. She was 71.

She operated a day-care center in Spokane.

Mrs. Yurksitis was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Tony; a son, Ronald Yurksitis, and a daughter, Denise Visvydas, both of Spokane; two sisters, Marie Chea and Cecilia Baloh, both of Jennette, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
