When Contract Ends, Margulies Is Gone

Now it’s George Clooney’s fictional significant other who’s planning an exit from top-rated “ER.”

While the NBC hit is scheduled to be making house calls for at least a few more years, Julianna Margulies, who plays nurse Carol Hathaway, says she’ll be leaving after next season, when her contract ends.

The Emmy-winning actress made her plan known Wednesday during a taping of “The Howie Mandel Show.”

Co-star Eriq LaSalle’s contract is also up after next season, the series’ sixth. LaSalle, who plays Dr. Benton, has made no announcement about his future. Of the remaining stars, Noah Wyle (Dr. Carter) and Anthony Edwards (Dr. Greene) are signed through the eighth season, while Laura Innes (Dr. Weaver) and Gloria Reuben (Jeanie Boulet) are onboard through year seven.
