Mci Worldcom, Eds Sign Services Pact

From Staff

MCI WorldCom is selling its computer services business to Electronic Data Systems Corp., a company founded by billionaire Ross Perot, for $1.67 billion as part of a broader deal in which 13,000 employees will switch companies.

The agreement calls for EDS, the leading supplier of computer services to the telecommunications industry, to provide MCI WorldCom with software and systems support over the next 10 years, a deal valued at $5 billion to $7 billion.

In turn, EDS is hiring MCI WorldCom to handle telecommunications for EDS and its customers.
