Lothar Pietz, interim pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 810 S. Sullivan Road, Veradale.

Background: Pietz, 62, has been at Good Shepherd since March and expects to stay until a new pastor is selected in a few months. He has spent the past 13 years as an interim pastor at 11 different churches. Pietz was ordained in 1963 after attending Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. After a few years pastoring in churches, he moved into campus ministry, spending five years at Northern Michigan University and four at Dana College in Blair, Neb.

Personal: He and his wife, Carlyne, have been married 38 years. They have three grown children - two daughters and one son. Pietz now makes his home in Shoreline, Wash., spending four days there after every 10 days in Spokane.
