BP Amoco will eliminate 3,000 more jobs after profits fell sharply in the fourth quarter due to oil prices that are at a 12-year low and a downturn in the refining and chemicals business.
Strollers that can collapse and mattresses that can trap children in crib frames are being recalled by Cosco Inc., the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced. Geoby Two Ways tandem strollers being recalled are model numbers 01-644 and 01-645 (with car seat). Also recalled were Cosco tubular metal cribs, which can collapse and allow children to slip through 5-inch slats in the platform.
Heinz Co. plans to eliminate 3,000 to 4,000 jobs during the next four years, sell its Weight Watchers diet classes and close some factories to increase its profits.
DaimlerChrysler AG is recalling 328,500 Dodge full-size Ram Vans and Wagons to replace air bag parts that could cause the bags to deploy accidentally. The recall involves 54,500 1998 vehicles and 274,000 1995-1997 vehicles.
