MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Stanford at Washington State
Time/TV: 7 p.m.; Fox Sports Northwest
Summary: Stanford, fresh off a 32-point shellacking of Washington, visits Friel Court for the two teams’ final meeting of the season tonight. The No. 7 Cardinal, who had lost two of their last three games before Thursday, appear to readying themselves for a deep run into the postseason.
With the same starting lineup that made it to the Final Four last season, Stanford has run up an 11-2 conference record and a 21-5 overall mark. Four of the five starters are seniors and have played in a combined 474 games. The other starter, Mark Madsen, a 6-9, 235-pound junior, leads the team in scoring (13.9 ppg) and rebounding (8.3 rpg).
Last time out against WSU (10-15, 4-10), the Cardinal struggled early against a zone defense. But midway through the first half, the shots of point guard Arthur Lee started to fall as did the hopes of WSU. Stanford proceeded to dismantle the Cougars in the second half and won by 49 points, the largest-ever Pac-10 win at Maples Pavilion and the second-worst loss in Cougars history.
Washington State shot just 30 percent in the first game, including a season-worst 1 for 18 from the 3-point line. The Cougars also tied their season low in rebounds with 23.

CNCC (8-18, 1-14) was rocked by Ricks 96-61 Thursday. Beau Barney, a 6-foot-6 freshman, averages 15 points and has made 41 3-pointers.
NIC’s women (16-9, 7-9) are a half-game ahead of CNCC (14-13, 6-9) in the race for sixth place. NIC’s defense will be challenged by 5-10 forward Tanya Romer, who averages 16.5 points, second in the SWAC, and a conference-leading 11.5 rebounds.
