Valley Churches Offering Lenten Services, Classes

As Lent continues, many Valley churches are planning weekly services or classes in preparation for Easter.

Some of these events are listed below:

Peace Lutheran Church, 4124 N. Harvard Road, will have a worship service at 7 p.m. each Wednesday through March 24. Each service will be preceded by a soup supper at 6 p.m.

In addition, a class focusing on simplifying our lives will be offered each Wednesday following the service at 7:40 p.m. The five week class is based on the book “Six Weeks to a Simpler Lifestyle.” The cost of the book is $5. To register, call the church office at 922-9021.

Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway, plans to serve a soup supper at 6 p.m. each Wednesday during Lent. The meal will be followed by a worship service at 7 p.m.

St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 503 N. Walnut Road, will have the Stations of the Cross each Friday at noon during Lent.

Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines, will serve a soup supper at 6 p.m. each Wednesday through the end of March. The meal will be followed by a worship service at 7 p.m.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 810 S. Sullivan, will offer a 7 p.m. worship service each Wednesday during Lent.

Class on faith issues begins

`Wrestling with Angels: An Intimate Look at the Tough Questions of Life” is now being offered at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. The classes begin at 9 a.m. on Sundays and repeat at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. The series will examine experiences of people as they challange issues of faith in a variety of life situations.

No registration is required for the free class. For more information, call the church office at 926-6450.

Valley Nazarene dinner, auction

The Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene will host a spaghetti dinner and auction today at 4 p.m. The silent auction begins at 5 p.m. and the oral auction gets under way at 6:45 p.m.

Items up for bid include floral arrangements, airline tickets, crafts, time-share condos, baby sitting, housecleaning and woodwork.

Dinner is $2 per person or $8 per family. All events are at Broadway Elementary, 11016 E. Broadway.
