Persistence Does The Job For Moscow

Moscow used all four of its chances Saturday to knock Lewis ton out of the A-1 Region I tournament.
Levi Johnson’s offensive rebound and putback with 2 seconds left lifted the Bears to a 42-41 win over visiting Lewiston.
Johnson had two other offensive rebounds and field-goal attempts in the final flurry before scoring the winning basket.
Moscow’s first chance to take the lead had come when Corey Comstock stole the ball and fed Darnell Williams, who missed his shot from the floor.
Lewiston led by seven points late in the game, but Williams and Adam Busch had two 3-pointers apiece in the final 3 minutes.
Moscow plays another loser-out game at Lake City (14-8) at 7 p.m. on Monday.

A-2 DISTRICT I TOURNAMENT
Lakeland 55, Timberlake 47
Shawn Stanford’s 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter snapped a 30-all tie and the Hawks went on to defeat the Tigers in a loser-out opener at Rathdrum.
Lakeland’s top scorers, Taylor Skidmore and Ryan Hansen, were a combined 8 of 24 from the floor, but Timberlake’s field-goal shooting (25 percent) was worse.
Lakeland advances to the doubleelimination portion of the tournament and plays at No. 1 Kellogg (16-3) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Andy Rice scored 14 of his 19 in the second half as the Badgers eliminated the visiting Spartans.
Rice made 9 of 14 field goals and added 16 rebounds. The Badgers’ Adam Carpenter had six rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Bonners Ferry also moves on the the tourney’s double-elimination round. The Badgers play at St. Maries (14-6) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Chad Wild scored a career-best 32 points, hitting 13 of 17 from the floor, as the Eagles defeated the visitors from Nelson, British Columbia.
Wild added nine rebounds, seven on the offensive end. Drew Baker had 13 assists and five steals for the Eagles, and Jared Bligh added eight rebounds, five steals and five assists.
Falls Christian will open the A-4 District I tournament at 7:45 p.m. Thursday with a loser-out game at Lakeland High against Kootenai.
