Cable network giant MTV Networks, whose channels include MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite and TV Land, announced an online expansion of new music and children’s World Wide Web sites.

Columbia/HCA Healthcare’s fourth quarter earnings fell far short of Wall Street expectations, as the nation’s largest hospital company was pummeled by declining admissions, falling Medicare reimbursement and rising medical costs.

Piper Jaffray Cos. Inc. announced it will change its name to U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray on March 1 to reflect the brokerage’s sale to U.S. Bancorp.

Barnes & Noble Inc.’s stock fell nearly 13 percent on Tuesday after the giant bookseller warned of lower-than-expected profits for its latest fiscal year and slower earnings growth in the future.
