Apply Guidelines To Foretelling Dream
Dear Nancy: I am an investor for a large corporation and heavily involved in the stock market, both in New York and Hong Kong. I had this dream in late August, when the market was fluctuating wildly and prospects for profits were grim. This dream was extremely vivid, clear and had strong emotions. Could it be a precognitive dream? - Philip
“I’m with a friend at a restaurant and I’m in a panic to learn how much the Dow Jones has fallen since I last checked. I rush to a nearby stranger carrying a beeper that shows stock quotes. I ask how the Dow Jones is doing, fully expecting it to have dropped dramatically. Instead, the stranger says calmly that the Dow is at 9,900. I am in shock and total surprise.
Dear Philip: Your dream makes me want to run out and invest in the Dow! Because of your letter, I’ve been watching the market. It hasn’t hit 9,900 yet, but we have had record highs since the time of your dream.
Throughout the ages, one of the greatest gifts of the dream world has been the gift of prophecy. Our intellectual defenses retreat when we sleep and our natural intuition and perception are more available to us. This is a normal phenomena and nearly everyone has them.
Usually, the information we pick up relates to personal issues and the people in our lives. But information associated with world events can also filter into our dream world. You might have had this dream because of your interest in the stock market. Strong connections seem to provide a“psychic pathway” for intuitive information to come through.
So, my friend, how do we know if your dream is precognitive? There is no true test, but there are guidelines to evaluate the dream.
Studies show there are some specific indications that a dream may be foretelling the future. They often have extremely vivid imagery and are mixed with intense emotions. People who regularly record their dreams learn to recognize precognitive dreams by their particular clarity. But the best answer is in the dreamer’s own mind. What’s your “gut” feeling?
I’ll be watching the Dow, and when it reaches 9,900, I will pour a glass of wine in your honor and make a toast to the dream world.
Reader tip: Although I haven’t had any precognitive or telepathic dreams regarding my finances, I have had some very interesting experiences with these types of dreams.
A few months before our initial conflict with Iraq, I dreamed of a dark-haired madman standing next to a missile, smiling malevolently. Fighter jets were streaming overhead. When I saw Saddam and his scud missiles I knew the dream was about upcoming world events and not my own psychological drama.
Another time I dreamed that 47 beautiful young men were killed by an explosion on a ship. Among the details of the dream was a bomb stuffed in a concealed place. I woke up sobbing, only to find that 47 men had been killed on the USS Iowa early that morning. Someone had planted an explosive device on board.
