Roberta Garrison Spokane
Roberta (Cunningham) Garrison, will celebrate her 100th birthday with an open house at the Svea’s Scandinavian Adult Family Home, 12518 E. Houk, from 2 to 4 p.m. today.
Garrison was born Feb. 27, 1899, in Boise, and has been a resident of Eastern Washington for 55 years.
She married Ross Garrison in 1925; he died in 1979.
Garrison is a housewife, and also cooked for nursing homes and schools.
Her daughter, Edith, died in 1948. Garrison’s two brothers and two of her sisters have died. Her sister Lillian Obde lives in Spokane. She has seven nieces, Verna Hall, Jean Santor and Ione Moore, all of Spokane, Dorris Cameron, Hayden, Idaho, Dixie Baught, Thompson Falls, Mont., Margorey Abel, Louisville, Ky. and Marion Abel of Washington D.C.
She attributes her longevity to enjoying living, having a positive attitude, working hard, gardening and being a devoted Christian.
