Spotlight: River Float

For a sixth straight year, the Northwest Whitewater Association will welcome in the new year with a float on the Spokane River today.

Anyone may participate in this chilly “icebreaker,” but everyone must be outfitted with proper coldweather equipment and clothing, stressed trip leader Bob Rockser.

“Only Fools Float on the First” begins with breakfast at Solicitor’s Corner, Division & Francis, at 10 a.m. Floaters will launch from the city sewage treatment plant at 12:30 p.m. with the trip taking them through Class III rapids at the Bowl & Pitcher and Devil’s Toenail.
