Greece celebrated the arrival of the new year by shooting off about 2,000 fireworks from Constitution Square in Athens at midnight Thursday. In the foreground is Athens’ most famous landmark, the Parthenon, the Doric temple of Athena built in the 5th century B.C. on the Acropolis.
