Prep Downs Shadle Park, Stays Perfect

Gonzaga Prep held Shadle Park to three points in the fourth quarter to remain unbeaten with a 50-46 win at Prep Saturday night in Greater Spokane League girls basketball.

The Bullpups trailed by two entering the fourth quarter, but limited Shadle Park to 0-of-6 shooting from 3-point range and 1 of 5 on 2-point attempts.

Juliann Laney had 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two blocks for the Bullpups. Rebecca Wood added eight rebounds.

Rachel Stockman scored a career-high 15 points for Shadle Park.

Morgan Bennett scored 24 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had five steals to lead the Panthers to the win at University.

The Panthers raced to an early 11-point lead and stayed ahead. Courtney Ferguson added 18 points, hitting 4 of 7 3s.

Crissa Poole had a career-high 14 points for the Titans, hitting four 3s.

Peggy Coyle came off the bench to drill four 3-pointers and scored a career-high 18 to rally the unbeaten Bears past the visiting Tigers.

With Sarah Glotfelty scoring 13 of her 19 points and LC breaking CV’s press, the Tigers led most of the first half until Coyle hit two 3-pointers.

Marisa Liepman led CV with 20, hitting 8 of 9 free throws to make her 18 of 19 from the line in her last two games.

Courtney Lynn had three 3-pointers in the second half and finished with a career-high 12 points as the visiting Saxons beat the Pirates for their first victory of the season.

With Sarah Bayne grabbing 13 rebounds and scoring 14 points, the Pirates were close until Lynn started hitting. The Pirates hit 15 of 19 free throws with Crystal Perry perfect on eight.

Jenny Benzel led all scorers with 15 for Ferris.
