17-Year-Old Faces Assault Charge

A suicidal 17-year-old boy was arrested late Sunday after allegedly lunging at sheriff’s deputies with a knife.

The boy, whose name was not released, was treated for cuts on his wrists before being booked into the Kootenai County Juvenile Detention Center. He faces a charge of aggravated assault on a police officer.

Sheriff’s officials said deputies used pepper spray to subdue the boy when he lunged at them. Deputies said the boy’s injuries were self-inflicted.
