Nic Wrestlers Record Shutout

Shaun Williams set the tone for North Idaho and the end result was a 37-0 non-conference wrestling victory over Clackamas at Clackamas, Ore., on Friday.

Williams, a 125-pounder, opened the match with a 19-8 major decision.

The Cardinals’ Troy Sabot picked up a pin in the 141-pound class and 197-pounder David Sandberg earned a technical fall with a 19-2 decision.

Mike McPherson of Colfax finished among the top 16 placers as the Senior Masters tournament headed into today’s round-robin finals at Reno, Nev.

McPherson, 14th after three days of qualifying, dropped his first three-game match Friday, then came back to win four straight before Jerome Lee of Medford, Ore., eliminated him 672-629. McPherson earned $1,500.
