Cheney Upends Post Falls

The top of the Border League became less crowded on Saturday, courtesy of Cheney.
Kara Weitman scored 18 of her 24 points in the second half, and Lani McLauchlin hit three 10-footers in the fourth quarter to help build a six-point lead as the Blackhawks knocked visiting Post Falls out of first place with a 51-46 victory.
PF (10-4 BL) had been tied with Moscow and CdA.
KDee Anderson added seven steals and five assists for Cheney, and Weitman, held scoreless in her last game, had seven rebounds. PF’s Janelle Ruen scored 21 and reportedly broke the school’s career scoring record.

The Vikings hit their first five shots from the floor and Krissi Ruiz followed with a three-point play for a 15-4 lead as CdA completed its league sweep of LC.
CdA, which had dropped 11 consecutive games to LC before this year, remained tied for first place with Moscow. LC’s Cassie Bro tied the score at 23 with a 3-pointer 4:20 before halftime, but the Vikings never trailed.
