Ducks Top Cougs

Pac-10 women

Jenny Mowe scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked seven shots to lead the Oregon Ducks past the visiting Washington State Cougars 72-64 on Sunday.

What was shaping up to be a blowout turned into a nail-biter as the Cougars went on a 21-0 run midway through the second half to trim a 25-point deficit to four points, 60-56, with 6 minutes to go.

But the Ducks hit 5 of 7 free throws down the stretch.

The Cougars, who had averaged 8 3-pointers per game coming into the contest, made only four of 20 attempts. Victoria Harrod led Washington State with a game-high 18 points.

Lamb, who leads the Pac-10 in scoring coming at 18.8 points per game, was held to 10 points.

Shaquala Williams added 14 points for Oregon, 10 of those in the second half, and O’Brien added 12 points.
