Late Basket Sinks Ccs Men’S Team

Matt Elliott picked up a loose ball following a blocked shot and scored with just 13 seconds left Wednesday night to give Colum bia Basin College a 62-60 NWAACC men’s basketball win over visiting Community Colleges of Spokane in Pasco.

Elliott finished with 14 points and eight rebounds for CBC, which shot 62 percent (8 of 13) from 3-point range.

CCS was paced by Jon Chat field, who scored 14 points, and James Kiger, who added 11, along with eight rebounds.

Amber Pantages scored on a layin with 6 seconds left to give Columbia Basin its first lead of the game and the Hawks went on to defeat Community Colleges of Spokane 65-61 in Pasco.

CCS, which got 18 points from Jen Clark, had the ball with 30 seconds left and the score tied at 61, but failed to convert on two late field goal tries that could have won the game.

Columbia Basin scored its final two points on a pair of Chrissy Reade free throws with 2 seconds left.
