Peking Acrobats Swing Into Pullman On Sunday

Nina Culver Correspondent

Acrobats are popular in China and one of the country’s top troupes is scheduled for a 2 p.m. performance Sunday at the Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum in Pullman.

The Peking Acrobats have been wowing audiences around the world with their amazing feats since 1952. The show will feature colorful costumes, the traditional Chinese Lion Dance and other dances, in addition to seeing how many performers can balance on one bicycle, for example.

Other demonstrations of balance and agility include acrobats twirling on suspended ropes, balancing on stacks of chairs and flipping through hoops. Gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists and tumblers will all perform stunts. The performance will also incorporate live music.

The show is sponsored by the Festival Dance of Performing Arts Association. All tickets for the first seven rows are $25. Other tickets are $20 and $16 for adults, $16 and $10 for students, and $12 and $8 for children under 12.

Tickets are available at G&B Select-a-Seat outlets or call (800) 325-SEAT. They will also be available at Beasley and The Depot in Pullman, the University of Idaho ticket office in Moscow and at Albertson’s in Lewiston.
