Don’t just throw away those plastic six-pack holders for canned drinks. We’ve received numerous letters from our wonderful readers about wildlife and birds getting caught in them and causing great stress and even death! Take a few seconds to cut through each ring and down the center before throwing them away. This will make a safer environment for our little animal friends. Heloise

Dear Heloise: For replacement buttons and hooks for women’s clothing, I keep a threaded needle in the corner of my dressing-table mirror. With a new garment, I sew the buttons to the seam allowance. If I need to replace a button, it’s handy. I don’t have to look for envelopes or other things.
