Kathy Burrell-Malek Caldwell, Idaho
Visitation for Kathy Burrell-Malek, 40, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Riplinger funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Deer Park.
Mrs. Burrell-Malek, who was born in Salinas, Calif., died Monday.
She traveled throughout California before living in Spokane, Deer Park and Loon Lake.
Mrs. Burrell-Malek worked for Seafirst Bankcard Services prior to taking medical leave due to a congenital heart defect.
She received a heart transplant in 1992 and was awaiting a second transplant at the time of her death. She moved to Caldwell a year ago.
Mrs. Burrell-Malek was a member of the Loon Lake Moose Lodge Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; four children, Brian and Dawn Hoppes, both of Caldwell, Justin Malek of Spokane and Lance Malek of Kennewick; four brothers, Mark Bowles and Ed Burrell, both of Spokane, Marty Powers of Reedsport, Ore., and Kenny Burrell of California; a sister, Debbie White of Chattaroy; and two grandchildren.
James Patterson Oregon City, Ore.
Memorial service for James David Patterson, 50, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Hillside Chapel in Oregon City. Private inurnment will be at the Willamette National Cemetery.
Mr. Patterson, who was born in Ritzville, Wash., died Monday.
He graduated from Shadle Park High School in Spokane and served with the Marine Corps.
Mr. Patterson was the owner and operator of Patterson Trucking. He moved to Oregon City in 1982.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca; a daughter, Rhonda Nebel of Coeur d’Alene; a son, Phillip Patterson of Canby, Ore.; two brothers, Bob Patterson of Spokane and Dennis Patterson of Minnetonka, Minn.; a sister, Sharon Patterson of Spokane; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunshine Division of the Portland Police Department.
Robert Asterino Sr. Spokane
Funeral Mass for Robert F. Asterino, Sr., 62, will be at 3:30 p.m. today at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Asterino, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.
He graduated from Gonzaga Prep in 1954 and attended Gonzaga University.
Mr. Asterino worked as an electrician at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation and Eastern Washington University before retiring as an electrical planner from Fairchild Air Force Base in 1995.
He also served as a police officer in Richland from 1969 to 1974.
Mr. Asterino was a member of the Elks Lodge and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 73.
Survivors include his wife, Leonna; two sons, Robert Jr. and Daniel Asterino, both of Cheney; three stepsons, Brian Ching of Mesa, Ariz., Aaron Ching of Keizer, Ore., and Robin Ferrier of Hawaii; four adopted children, Jhary, Uma, Travion and Tyrone Asterino, all of Spokane; his mother, Leontina of Bellevue, Wash.; a brother, Joseph Asterino of Spokane; a sister, Linda Smith of Bellevue; and numerous grandchildren.

James Ent Spokane
Visitation for James Ellis Ent, 77, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at Hillyard Baptist Church. Private burial will be at Worley (Idaho) Cemetery.
A 72-year Spokane resident, Mr. Ent died Tuesday. He was born in Salem, Ore.
He graduated from North Central High School in 1941 and served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Ent was the owner and operator of Chateau Photography Studio in Spokane from 1946 to 1982.
He was a member of the Spokane Professional Photographers Association, Shadle Lions Club, North Hill Masonic Lodge 210 and Hillyard Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; a son, John Ent of Houston; two daughters, Sue Hamilton and Mary Bensel, both of Dallas; a stepdaughter, Julie Miles, and a stepson, Jeff Hunt, both of Spokane; and a brother, Sam Ent, and a sister, Nan Baca, both of Spokane.

Steve Mattoon Moscow, Idaho
Service for Steve A. Mattoon, 34, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Moscow Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Moscow Cemetery. Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mattoon, a lifelong Moscow resident, died Wednesday from an aortic aneurysm.
He grew up and attended schools in Moscow and played high school and American Legion baseball as a pitcher.
Mr. Mattoon worked for area grocery stores and was a truck driver for a beer distributor for three years. He had worked at Tidyman’s in Moscow for the past nine years.
He had been working toward a pharmacy degree and worked as a pharmacy technician at the Pullman Memorial Health and Wellness Pharmacy.
In 1995 he married Linda Van Pelt.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Norrah at home; his father, James “Jack” Mattoon of Moscow; two brothers, Mike and Stan Mattoon, both of Moscow; and a sister, Annette Farnam of Idaho Falls.
Memorials may be made to the Moscow Humane Society.
Ruth Duchene Spokane
Visitation for Ruth I. Duchene, 89, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Mausoleum Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Burial will follow at the park.
Mrs. Duchene, who was born in Hillyard, died Tuesday.
She retired as a bookkeeper at Harper-Magee-Tel-Electric Distributors after 20 years.
Mrs. Duchene was a member of Mission Avenue Presbyterian Church since 1922.
Her husband, A.J. Duchene, died in 1987.
She is survived by three daughters, Marion Jordan of Liberty Lake, Dorothy Delaney of Bayview, Idaho, and Carol Markley of Sandpoint; a sister, Sue Crampton of Spokane; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

JoLayne `Jody’ Lucey Spokane
Memorial service for JoLayne “Jody” Lucey, 41, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7th Ward. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 10-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Lucey died Tuesday. She was born in Kellogg.
She was a homemaker and most recently worked as a medical transcriptionist.
Mrs. Lucey was a member of the 7th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Alcoholics Anonymous.
Survivors include two sons, Joshua Lucey and Bob McCarthy; and three daughters, Jennifer Howell and Tara and April Lucey, all at home; her parents, DeAnn Martin and Frank Turner, Sr.; two brothers, Mike Turner of Poulsbo, Wash., and Frank Turner III, of Kennewick; two sisters, Sandy Murphy of Kennewick and Colleen Turner of Las Vegas.
Raymond Rowland Nine Mile Falls
Private service for Raymond C. Rowland, 78, will be held at a later date. The Neptune Society of Northern California is in charge of arrangements Mr. Rowland, who was born in Spokane, died Dec. 22.
He worked for Rouse’s Towing and Body Shop in Spokane for 25 years.
Mr. Rowland was a 10-year member of the Spokane Yacht Club and belonged to several square dancing clubs in Spkane for 16 years.
He and his wife, Patricia, spent their winters traveling.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dan Rowland of Sacramento; a daughter, Sharon Tow of Denver; and four grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Katie Pulliam Spokane
Funeral for Katie I. Pulliam, 88, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
A 41-year Spokane-area resident, Mrs. Pulliam died Monday.
Born in Dothan, Texas, Mrs. Pulliam was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Jesse; two sons, David Pulliam of Tacoma and Barton Pulliam of Mead; and five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Janet Jackson Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Janet Catherine Jackson, 65, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Coeur d’Alene Stake Center. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jackson, who was born in Portland died Wednesday.
She grew up in Yakima. She contracted polio and spent two years at a children’s hospital in Spokane. Mrs. Jackson was selected as a March of Dimes poster child for the Spokane area in the 1930s. In 1942 she moved to California and graduated from high school there in 1950.
Mrs. Jackson then attended business school and worked for Fresno County.
She married Robert Jackson in 1959 and was involved in Indoor Sports Club, a group for the physically challenged.
Mrs. Jackson spent many years in hospitals and nursing homes due to her deteriorating health before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1995 to be near family.
She was an advocate for the advancement of people with disabilities and was a member of the Mormon Church.
Her husband died in 1997.
Survivors include two brothers, Lee and Jim Watson, both of Texas; three sisters, Betty Finck of Dalton Gardens, Idaho, and Carolyn Watson and Mary Grose, both of Post Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dora Hoss Hope, Idaho
Service for Dora Melba Hoss, 79, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. A gathering will follow the service at 428 S. Lincoln St., in Sandpoint.
Mrs. Hoss, who was born in Black Diamond, Wash., died Wednesday.
She attended school in Western Washington and Hope and then graduated from Girls High School in San Francisco.
She married James Hoss in 1938 in Spokane. She returned to the Hope area and operated several restaurants in Idaho and Montana.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, June Entringer of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, James Hoss of Coeur d’Alene and Robert Hoss of Sandpoint; a sister, June Redo of California; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Connie (Duckett) Imholt Spokane
Memorial service for Connie (Duckett) Imholt, 48, will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Imholt, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.
She graduated from Rogers High School and worked as a computer operator for Farm Credit Services.
Mrs. Imholt was a member of the Spokane Kennel Club.
She is survived by her mother, Mollie Robinson of Spokane; her stepmother, Linda Alexander of Spokane; eight brothers, Andy, Jeff, Tim, Scott and Ryan Duckett, and Phil, Rick and Craig Robinson.

Helen Ross Spokane
Private burial for Helen M. Ross, 91, will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ross, who was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, died Monday.
She graduated from high school in Ottumwa and worked in a bank there for a short time.
Mrs. Ross worked for the Ottumwa Mercantile from the mid-1920s until 1943. She then married William Ross and, after World War II, moved to Spokane.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Jensen-Byrd in Spokane for several years before traveling all over the world with her husband, who worked as a civil engineer in railroading.
They lived in Seven Islands, Quebec; Venezuela; Peru; Brazil; Australia and San Francisco.
Her husband died in 1969, and she returned to Spokane.
Mrs. Ross lived in the Davenport Hotel and the Cathedral Plaza in Spokane for several years.
She was a member of the National Association of Contract Bridge.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Eva Nelson of Spokane; and several nieces and nephews.
Lola Linzey Spokane
Private service for Lola R. Linzey, 90, will be held at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 65-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Linzey died Monday.
She was born in Deer Lodge, Mont., and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her companion of 18 years, Bill Keimig; and a sister, Alice Nash.

Bud Rodenbaugh Spokane
Visitation for Bud Rodenbaugh, 66, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Rodenbaugh, who died Sunday, was born in Salem, Ore.
He moved to Spokane at an early age and served in the Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Mr. Rodenbaugh retired from the military after 20 years and was awarded the Purple Heart.
After his retirement he began working in the maintenance department for West Valley School District, retiring in 1988.
In 1989 he received a heart transplant.
Mr. Rodenbaugh was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; a daughter, Terry Couch of Spokane; four sons, Gary Brummett of Spokane, Russell Brummett of Normal, Ill., Larry Pullom of Spokane and Glen Pullom of Portland; a sister, Janet Rosenau of California; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Howard `Timber’ Wood Mead
Funeral for Howard H. “Timber” Wood, 89, will be at 1 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
A lifetime Mead-area resident, Mr. Wood died Tuesday. He was born in Buckeye, north of Chattaroy.
He worked as a logger for many years and was a member of the Antique Truck Association.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruth; a son, Bud Wood of Mead; two daughters, Darlene Harrison of Mead and Carolyn Ely of Spokane; two sisters, Hazel Gurske of Mead and Vivian Bacharach of Clarkston, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
John Oxrieder Spokane
Visitation for John M. Oxrieder, 26, will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Rosary will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Mary Queen Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Oxrieder, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.
He graduated from Gonzaga Prep and was attending Spokane Community College.
Survivors include his parents, Billy and Mary Jo Oxrieder; three brothers, Joseph, Jason and Jacob; his grandmother, Frances Good; and his grandfather, Don Hilterbrant.
Robert Samons Colville
Memorial service for Robert L. “Bob” Samons, 75, will be at 1 p.m. today at Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Samons, who was born in Cheney, died Saturday.
He attended school in Cheney and entered the Army in 1943, serving overseas during World War II.
Mr. Samons was honorably discharged in 1945 and was awarded several military decorations. After the war, he lived in California and worked as a truck driver in oil fields.
In 1957 he married Elspeth Hall and they moved to Yakima, where he owned and operated the Shamrock Tavern for four years.
They moved to Colfax in 1966, and he worked for the Washington State Highway Department for five years. He later worked for Brauners Lumber Mill and for Colmac Coil. He retired in 1989.
Mr. Samons was longtime member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Dorothy Blackburn and Clara Garwood, both of Colville, and Vicki Ferrell of Spokane; two half-sisters, Ilene Davis of Prosser, Wash., and Florence Franklin of Corrales, N.M.; and three grandchildren.
