Trade Agency Changes Acronym

SRITA is now ITA.

The Spokane Regional International Trade Alliance has shortened its name to eliminate confusion and better express its mission, said Executive Director Eric Seachris.

The organization’s old acronym was too close to SIRTI, the common abbreviation for the Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute, he said.

Seachris also said SRITA obscured the office’s role in building international trade.

A new logo will include the words “Spokane, Washington” to maintain ITA’s connection with the community, he said.

The alliance, a public-private partnership with the Spokane Chamber of Commerce, arranges trade missions, educational seminars and answers traderelated questions.
