Crimp Kicks Nater Off Team
Starting center Alisha Nater has been dismissed from the North Idaho College women’s basketball team for violating team rules, coach Greg Crimp said.
“It was an accumulation (of things),” Crimp said. “That’s about as specific as I can be.”
Nater’s departure leaves NIC thin at the post position. Sophomore Katy Shaw will probably play center and either Jodi Fisher or 5-foot-6 Amy Lemon will play power forward, Crimp said. Kammi Cottrell has an injured knee, but she might be able to play in road games against Utah Valley and Salt Lake this weekend.
In addition to Nater, NIC is without her 6-4 sister, Valerie Nater, who quit at the start of the season, and Alyssa Heier, who suffered a season-ending knee injury before the season. Another post, Lindsay Baines, played the first half of the season but is academically ineligible and forward Shanna Robison quit earlier this month.
Alisha Nater was NIC’s third-leading scorer at 9.5 points and No. 1 rebounder at 6 per game. The 6-3 sophomore blocked 27 shots, third in Region 18, and made 74.4 percent from the freethrow line.
