Hints From Heloise

Dear Readers: Here are a few good uses for a spare safety pin:

A little one can actually hold broken eyeglass frames together until a repair can be made.

Use it to hold a broken necklace chain together until it can be repaired.

Attach gloves or mittens to the sleeves of a jacket.

Pin a napkin to a young one’s shirt. - Heloise

Dear Heloise: Another way to stop pictures on the wall from moving due to vibration or dusting is to place a small piece of adhesive mounting putty on the inside of the bottom two corners. Press the bottom of the picture against the wall to have the putty adhere. It won’t mar most walls or the pictures and also can be reused. - Fran Weisberg, Alexandria, Va.
