Balanced Attack Leads Dons Over Bulldogs

Rachel Mahar totaled a career-high 17 points to lead six San Francisco players in double figures en route to an 88-70 West Coast Conference victory over the visiting Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Sarah Wanless and Nicole Raleigh each tallied 16 points, while Kim Whisler chipped in with 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds for San Francisco (6-14, 1-7) which saw an eight-game losing streak come to an end.

Heather Osberg came off the bench to hit 6 of 10 shots from the floor and lead the Bulldogs (6-14, 2-6) with 15 points. Jessica Malone added 12 points and a team-high eight boards.

Boise State 65, Idaho 62

The Broncos (10-9, 4-3) used a 7-0 run in the final 58 seconds to overcome a four-point deficit and pin a Big West Conference loss on the Vandals (10-9, 3-4) at Memorial Gym in Moscow.

BSU forced 22 Idaho turnovers, including seven by Alli Nieman, who topped Idaho with 21 points. Susan Woolf added 17 points. Nieman tied a school record with 21 rebounds.

Whitworth 62, Seattle 56

Katie Werner scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and freshman Jamie Dreewes came off the bench to score 11 points, all in the second half, as the Pirates held off the visiting Chieftans in Northwest Conference action.

Seattle pulled to within four points four times in the final 12 minutes until Whitworth (12-6, 8-3) used an 8-1 run to open a 57-46 lead with 3:14 left in the game.

Lellani Finau scored a game-high 20 points for the Chieftans (5-13, 2-9).

CC Spokane 75, Wenatchee 59

Amy George scored a game-high 16 points and snared a game-high 15 rebounds to spark the visiting Sasquatch (18-2, 6-2) to a Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges victory over the Knights (16-6, 5-2).

Jayme Morrisette and Karie Pruett each added 15 points for CCS, which got back in the conference title hunt with the victory. CCS trails Big Bend by one game and handed the Vikings their only loss in conference play this season.

The Sasquatch netted 20 of their 24 free-throw attempts for the game.
