The review: “This was our frivolous month,” Price said. As a whole, the group found Emerson’s book to be “pretty much the expected,” Price said, “amusing, diverting, a quick read.” Some group members read mostly serious fiction, Price said, “So this was a pleasant break.” What was of particular interest, Price added, was Emerson’s “use of real places in Seattle” and that “some of his characters are really interesting.” “Deception Pass,” especially, “was all believable stuff that could have happened. And it was an interesting idea.”
