Emil Wurst Silverton, Idaho
Graveside service for Emil George Wurst, 91, will be today at 10 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wurst, who was born in Suttgart, Germany, died Wednesday.
He immigrated to Colorado from Germany in 1923 and married Harriet Ahearn in 1931.
Mr. Wurst moved to the Silver Valley in 1943 and owned the Economy Meat Market in Mullan and the City Meat Market in Wallace.
He was a member of the Wallace Elks Lodge and had served as mayor of Osburn, Idaho, from 1980-88.
His wife of more than 64 years, Harriet, died in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Bilte of Coeur d’Alene; three sisters, Emma, Elsa and Leni, all of Germany; and two grandchildren, Steve and Greg.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Spokane or Silver Wood Good Samaritan Center in Silverton.
Mary (Hoffman) Stovin Spokane
Memorial service for Mary (Hoffman) Stovin, 88, will be at 2 p.m. today at Unity Church of Truth. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stovin, who was born in the Panama Canal Zone, died Monday.
The child of a military family, she attended schools in Rock Island, Ill., Washington, D.C., and New Orleans.
Mrs. Stovin graduated from Wellesley College with a bachelor’s degree in music in 1932. She married Philip Stovin that year.
In 1943 she moved to Clearwater, Fla., while her husband was overseas on a tour of duty. She lived there for 10 years before moving to Kansas City, Mo. She moved to Spokane in 1956.
Mrs. Stovin’s husband served as minister at Unity Church of Truth in Spokane until 1963.
She was ordained a Unity Church of Truth minister in 1964, serving at Unity churches with her husband in St. Petersburg, Fla., Milwaukee, Tacoma and Keihei, Maui, Hawaii.
Her husband, Philip, died in 1981.
She returned to Spokane several years ago.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Qualls of Atlanta and Shari Barnard of Spokane; two sons, Scott Stovin of Fairfax, Va., and Stuart Stovin of Bellevue, Wash.; a brother, Richard Hoffman of Memphis, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Joseph `Dick’ Potts Spokane
Private graveside service for Joseph Richard “Dick” Potts, 83, will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Potts, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.
He attended Lewis and Clark High School before serving with the Army during World War II.
Mr. Potts worked for Liberty Furniture in Spokane and retired in 1982.
His wife of 46 years, Dorothy, died in 1993.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas and George Potts, and a daughter, Linda Potts, all of Spokane; two brothers, Jerome and Fred Potts Sr., and a sister, Jeanette Yochum, all of Spokane; two grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
August Cocklin Post Falls
No service will be held for August B. Cocklin, 87, at his request. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cocklin, who was born in Exshaw, Alberta, died Tuesday.
He lived in Michigan until moving to Post Falls in 1965 and working as a tool and die maker at McDonald Tool in the Spokane Valley for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jane; three sons, Art Cocklin of North Carolina, James Cocklin of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and John Cocklin of Post Falls; a daughter, Barbara Mathewson of Post Falls; a brother, Arthur Cocklin of Michigan; a sister, Pauline Kiffer of Florida; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Clint Titus Colville, Wash.
Memorial service for Clint A. Titus, 49, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Titus residence in Colville. Danekas Funeral Home in Colville is in charge of arrangements.
A 21-year Colville resident, Mr. Titus died Monday.
He was born in Spokane and attended schools in California before graduating from Colville High School in 1967.
Following high school, he returned to California, where he lived for 11 years. In 1975 he married Christine Cassella.
Mr. Titus operated a saddle shop in Clement, Calif., for three years before moving back to Colville in 1978.
In Colville, he continued his saddle-making business for a short time. He worked at the Safeway store in Colville from 1981 until 1987. He had been working at the Washington State Employment and Job Service office since 1991. He also served as the Department of Agriculture brand inspector in the Colville area from 1992 until 1995.
Mr. Titus was a member of the U.S. Team Roping Coalition, Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association and the American Quarterhorse Association.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, KC Titus, and a son, James Titus, both at home; his parents, Cliff and Gorinne Titus of Odessa, Wash.; and a brother, Norman Titus of Colville.
Patricia Davis Newman Lake
Private memorial gathering for Patricia “Patti” Davis, 76, will be at noon Saturday at the family home on Davis Lake. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Davis, who was born in Hutchinson, Kan., died Saturday.
In 1930 she moved to the Los Angeles area with her family.
She lived in Southern California for many years and worked with her husband, Bruce, who was an entertainment director for two hotel chains.
Mrs. Davis was a voice-over artist. Her voice can still be heard in commercials nationwide.
She was active in several charitable organizations, including the March of Dimes and cerebral palsy telethons and Rotary Anns. She was a volunteer with various Humane Societies.
Mrs. Davis moved to Newman Lake in 1977.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Kim Davis of Cheney; a son, Scott Davis of Fresno, Calif.; and one granddaughter.

Gregory Siebert Coeur d’Alene
Service for Gregory Don Siebert, 45, will be today at 2:30 p.m. at New Life Community Church in Hayden Lake. Burial will be at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Siebert, who was born in York, Neb., died Monday in a tree-climbing accident in Coeur d’Alene.
He was raised as a Mennonite and in 1969 moved to California. He married Juanita Puente in 1976.
He lived in Paradise, Calif., prior to moving to Plains, Mont., in 1989 and settling in Coeur d’Alene in 1993.
Mr. Siebert had worked as a professional timber faller and tree climber for 20 years, most recently for Specialty Tree Service of Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Siebert was recently divorced.
Survivors include a son, Patrick Siebert of Post Falls; a daughter, Roxanne Siebert of Post Falls; his ex-wife, Juanita of Post Falls; and four brothers, Raymond Siebert of Washington, and Ronald, Dennis and Jeffrey Siebert, all of California.
Helen Purcell Spokane
Graveside service for Helen A. Purcell, 86, was held Wednesday at Pines Cemetery. Memorial service followed at the Southside Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The Cremation Society of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Purcell, who was born and raised in Alberta, died Saturday.
She graduated from Graceland College in Missouri in 1937.
Mrs. Purcell later moved to Spokane, where she was an active member of the Southside Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a longtime member of the Eagles Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
She was a certified tutor and member of the Spokane Literacy Council, receiving many certificates of merit for her voluntary service. She was recognized for her participation in the Spokane YMCA and the Block Watch program. She was honored for sponsorship of Indo-Chinese refugees from U.S. Migration and Refugee Services.
Her husband of 42 years, Frank, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Leila Collier of Camp Springs, Md., and Elizabeth Hopkins of Salinas, Calif; two sons, Lowell and Lewis Purcell Sr., both of Spokane; 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Theodore Nutterville Moscow, Idaho
Masonic memorial service for Theodore E. “Ted” Nutterville, 71, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow.
Mr. Nutterville, who was born in Butte, Mont., died Wednesday from cancer.
He married Jane Olmstead in 1953, and they lived in Moscow.
He worked as a supervisor at Commercial Builders for 27 years and served as the Latah County building inspector from 1986-91.
He was a member of Paradise Masonic Lodge 17 and was a 32nddegree Mason. He also was a member of Latah County Shrine Club, Sheik Patrol, Royal Order of Jesters, Calam Shrine, Moose Lodge and the International Order of Job’s Daughters.
Survivors include his wife of more than 45 years, Jane; a daughter, Denise Nutterville of Fiedler, Idaho; a son, T.E. “Bud” Nutterville III of Killeen, Texas; five sisters, Irene Johnson, and Mona Shoop, both of Moscow, Loretta Poe of Genesee, Idaho, Joanne Ailor of Pullman and Frieda Weir of Kennewick; a brother, Wes Oller of Moscow; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Spokane.
Mary Burton Coeur d’Alene
Service for Mary A. Burton, 78, will be held at a later date in Salem, Ore. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Burton, who was born in Wessington, S.D., died Wednesday.
She married Tandy Burton in 1926, and they lived in Salem for 52 years. She moved to Coeur d’Alene one year ago.
Mrs. Burton was a homemaker and was a member of the Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include a daughter, Renaye Rowe of Coeur d’Alene; three sisters, Ruth Richter of Twin Falls, Idaho, Eileen Hesketh of Salem and Jerri Schuh of Hillsboro, Ore.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Philida (Williams) Goldhagen Livermore, Calif.
Graveside memorial service for Philida Ann (Williams) Goldhagen, a former longtime Spokane resident, was held May 1 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane.
Mrs. Goldhagen, who was born and raised in Spokane, died April 27. She was 73.
She attended St. Anthony’s School and graduated from Marycliff High School in Spokane.
Mrs. Goldhagen worked for Alcoa Aluminum for one year before she began her career with Kaiser Aluminum and Research. She was transferred by Kaiser to California, where she retired as an administrative assistant in 1987 after 43 years of service.
Nearing retirement, she earned a degree in court recording from LaSalle University in Chicago.
She was a member of various bowling leagues and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Livermore. She also was an avid reader and gardener.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Taylor of Henderson, Nev., and Mary Forbes of Walnut Creek, Calif.; two sisters, Janet Martancik of Boonton, N.J., and Margaret Williams of Spokane; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Kidney Foundation.
Rose Booth Sandpoint
Memorial service for Rose Elaine (Phillips) Booth, 65, will be today at 11 a.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint.
Mrs. Booth, who was born in Douglas, Wyo., died Sunday.
She moved to Laclede, Idaho, in 1937 and attended school there, later graduating from Priest River High School in 1952.
She married Keith Booth in 1952, and they settled in Sandpoint.
She worked as a public accountant for Frank Chapin before working at Sandpoint Super Drug, where she worked until recently. She also was a self-employed tax accountant.
Mrs. Booth was a member of the Parent-Teacher Association and was involved as a leader with the Boys Scouts and Girls Scouts. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, serving as past president and past state president. She was traveled extensively.
Survivors include her husband; four children, Ernie Booth of Athol, Idaho, Darlene Inman of Sandpoint, Linda DeFord of Fairfield, and Bradley Booth of Naples, Idaho; a sister, Frances Pitts of Sandpoint; a brother, Allen Phillips of New Mexico; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
