Majerus Turns Down Offer

University of Utah basketball coach Rick Majerus turned down an offer from Minnesota to replace Clem Haskins, according to a published report.

Majerus told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune he talked to University of Minnesota athletic director Mark Dienhart for an hour about the position.

Majerus declined the position for personal reasons, the paper said.

Seton Hall coach Tommy Amaker, considered to be the Gophers’ top choice after Majerus, issued a statement saying he plans to stay with the Pirates.
